Nobody in FIFA is fit to run anything. Nearly everyone involved in that organization has either been part of unethical/illegal behaviour or knew about such acts.

This organization needs to get nuked and disbanded full stop.

Its about time world football actually be run by football people; not politicians, lawyers, mafia, gangsters, cartels, princes, sheiks, kings etc.

This sport is a goddamn mess at the highest level and today just further proves that.

Let's be realistic about the vote. It didn't matter.

Putin's statement yesterday was a show of force, and a threat. Nobody could be seen to be "voting" against Putin. This guy paid serious money for that 2018 WC, guys would literally be risking their lives to vote against Blatter and cause that to be reopened.

If a Russian gangster pays you off, you had better stay paid off.

For this reason I also think you will see declarations soon by Blatter's opponents, saying that, "whatever happened, it's too late to move 2018". Nobody wants to wind up dead over this.

The real action will move offstage now, Blatter will be gone in weeks (days?) and 2022 will be revoted. Not that there is a chance in hell that any of USA, England or Australia will get it. In fact I think it's most likely that Qatar would win it again, only this time their bid will include a couple of billion for the European leagues they are screwing over by playing in November.

Then it will be business as usual.

If sponsors pull out its game over, it wouldn't matter if Putin paid for a WC if a boycott took place, right now there a million reasons to not have the WC in Russia.

$150 million in bribes. That's a staggering figure given the annual FIFA budget.

Of course no one wants to go to Russia. It's not about the million reasons.

FIFA's arrogance knows no limits it would seem. It is comical how far their heads are up their asses. The party is going to come to a screeching halt pretty soon.

As currently constructed the sponsors are not going to be opting to back out, they are going to have to back out because they can't give FIFA money and stay onside of AML and maybe even RICO laws.

The collection of banana republics that swing the votes and their undying support is cute but once the cash stops coming in they matter little.

First Putin, now Blatter threatens those who voted No. This is the Godfather, in real life.

Arrest of Blatter may be coming soon

    http://news.sky.com/story/1493507/fi...d-under-arrest

There are several of these stories out there. Blatter will be made the scapegoat now. It is required for the machine to survive.

    This is hilarious.

Ex-FIFA(Jack Warner) official defends himself, attacks U.S. by citing article from … The Onion

He thought the World Cup was awarded to the USA this year. T

An alternative World Cup with UEFA, North America and the key South American nations, Australia and anyone else who voted against Blatter would be all that's needed to force through a change.

The problem is UEFA along with CONOMBOL have corrupt members, there is going to be a lot of blockading going on as they are divided on the issue. A lot of reputable people took money.

Truly the only way this gets fixed is if most of every governing body(world, continental) disbands, from there you could have all the major leagues FA decide to form a new body.

You don't even need to do that. Just have the FAs of the strongest European Countries, the US and Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, South Korea, and whatever South American, Asian, and African FAs that aren't corrupt and form their own governing body with a new constitution that puts all the checks and balances into place to prevent corruption. Any members who want to join will have to agree with the new constitution. You can bet that the sponsors and , more importantly, the TV networks would drop their contracts for a chance to get in at the ground level of high quality soccer. FIFA would collapse upon itself once the gravy train ended.

I liked this line from the Guardian article:

FIFA announced Monday that, “due to the current situation,” Mr. Valcke would not attend the opening of the Women’s World Cup in Canada next week. “It is important that he attends to matters at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich,” the organization said in a news release.
Yeah I'm sure that's why Valcke isn't coming to Canada...
