Default Home Is Almost Here - Game 7: Pre, In and Post Game - TFC at Philadelphia Union

    Toronto FC at Philadelphia Union
    Saturday, May 2nd, 2015
    4 PM on TSN

This marks the final game of the Reds seven game road trip to open the 2015 MLS season. After the 2-0 Triumph in Orlando on Sunday night, hopefully the Reds can continue with their winning ways and take a nine point total into the home opener at the newly renovated BMO Field on May 10th.

On a note, it could very well mark a milestone for Ashtone Morgan and the team as the Toronto native could become the first player in team history to play in 100 games in a TFC uniform after making his 99th appearance at Orlando.

I just want to note, because it's being said many places: This is not the last road game before we open at home. We have a mid week game on the 6th vs montreal in the 1st leg of the V-cup.

Not a league game but a very important cup game vs our biggest rival.

Very much so, its a big road week for TFC with Philly and Montreal. Hopefully the roster will be managed well by Greg with the busy few weeks that lay ahead for the Reds. I am looking forward to it as I will be in both Philly and Montreal. 3 PTS will be huge.

Since i called the 2-0 tfc win in Orlando, lets give this another go.

    3-0 TFC.

I thought that we'd be lucky stealing a point last game. So my calls are usually off.

If we get to your score line - I'll buy you a beer.

    2-1 for the good guys.
"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports

Wish you had said this after the Orlando game haha, . Whatever the score I want to see them win! BTW for those that play MLS fantasy, Giovinco, Altidore and Cheyrou are all great pickups.. that is all.

Philly is playing worse than Orlando and coached worse than Toronto. I'd say again at least a tie or a win.

I'd stick with the same formation that was successful in Orlando for now. We have to play with some consistency on the defensive end and rely on our offensive players to capitalize on their opportunities until our back line is solidified.

during the season opener a few of us at joes mentioned how a 6 point result on this road trip would be ideal.
a 9 point result would be exceptional. here's hoping we can make it happen and keep the energy up going back to BMO.

Switch Hagglund for Caldwell from Yesterday's result and we should be fine.

I think Hagglund is just about on the verge of passing Caldwell in the depth chart. Keep him in there, he played well against Orlando.

Pretty sure with Caldwell's injury history of the last season-&-a-half, unless he is 100% and has had hard training all week, Hagglund is in front of him.

The last thing we need is Caldwell to start the game, make one run, and pull up lame.

How many people are going to Philly approximately? So far I think around 10ish right? So I guess obviously there won't be an away sector?

Another 3 points there for the taking this weekend I reckon. If we do so, 9pts from a seven game stretch of away fixtures isn't too bad, and should leave us on the cusp of a playoff spot. Granted we have to make home advantage actually mean something but with 3 of the next 4 at BMO a decent chance to get really involved in the division race

I suspect the back 4 will be the same but there will be a slight change in the midfield. Osorio in for Findley, as Philly relies more on midfield and less on width for its attack.

Philly's defense has been in shambles so far this season - much worst than TFC's, actually. In 9 games they've conceded no less than 17 goals, and their last game away in Columbus saw them beat 4-1. TFC should be going into the game on Saturday with quite a bit of confidence - 3 points is very doable. Got a good feeling it's gonna be a relatively high-scoring match for both clubs.

Seeing as they have conceded 17 already we should go all out and not dick around. We'll score, that I don't doubt, the question is what will our backline do.

Points in the last road game of our gruelling road trip to open the season would make for a great way to come home!

Altidore could really have another fun game ahead looking at the way their back line dealt with balls floating in.

I could see goals from both sides, though.

    Can't wait.

This could easily turn into one of those tactically dire contests with each team keeping behind the ball and content to scrap it out in the middle third of the field.

I would definitely push Gio out wide for this one.

oh and for fun, I'm calling for 3-2 Reds. Jozy, Jackson and Gio get the TFC goals. Philly gets a ugly one and probably a PK, but won't play like they deserve two.

This day is going to be one of the better sports days ever. Especially as a capitals fan.

Caps rangers at noon / TFC Philly at 4 / Kentucky Derby at 6 / Spurs Clippers might play a game 7 / and oh yeah, two guys are boxing...

I literally have no idea what you two are talking about. No that is not me asking. Unless we're watching Rocky fight Drago again. That's it, isn't it. It's Rocky and Drago...

Rocky looking over Philly with all his might, that just reminded me will have to take a pic of the statue wearing a RPB scarf on Saturday for good measure.

Good thing you're not a Leaf fan as they don't know what playoff hockey is -
I'm surprised some of those guys don't join the PGA Tour part time to fill in their summers lol
