Ridiculous comparison. Ferguson had won a European Cup Winners Cup over Real Madrid and a European Super Cup...won the Scottish League three time over Celtic and Rangers. He was an accomplished international manager before Man U picked him up from Aberdeen.

Maybe by that time we can drop the term 'nth year expansion' from our ethos.

Maybe there'll even be... dare I say it ?.... playoffs !

Amoyal dropping more tidbits on twitter, not really anything "breaking news" worthy.

    His source seems somewhat confused.

That would seem backwards to me, to say the least. If I hired someone who had to be turfed a short time later, that reflects negatively on my competence.

Even showing highlights wouldn't be the issue with improving this team all the highlights are offense.

Your asking those who believe to prove faith. Either that or pick apart clips of good defense from the overall bad. Do you honestly expect anyone to do that to prove their faith in the coach??
Actually someone did, making my point. We should be judging our coach on the teams play, adjustments, etc, not on press conferences.

vanney seems like a decent guy and quite knowledgeable about soccer. It is unclear though whether he has the right strategies and whether he can translate those strategies to the players, not by talk, but by repitition so they can execute them in the game without having to second guess their own instincts. The evidence so far suggests that his strategy is defensively naive and that he can't get players to stop making the same basic mistakes. It is possible, though, that that is due to injuries. If so, we should start to see whether his tactics are defensively sound as the players return. If they are, we are in for a great season. If they aren't, it's time for a new coach. For me, it is the performances that are the worry, not the results.

No it's classic corporate bs. Is this a reason Lagerwey didn't come?

We saw this movie when Anselmi told Winter he had to keep Cochrane. Leiweke's love affair with Harry Potter is bizarre.

I hope whoever they are talking to has the cojones to tell the Ultimate Entertainer that the new President alone gets to decide who his staff will be. Or the new President doesn't come.

    Re: Winter/Mariner similarity

Bez is obviously not aiming to be the next manager, so his role could be more of a consultant.

Gandini will be the new president of TFC and we finally have a successful guy
who cares about our record because it is on his record
Vanney gets fired in a couple games because say what you want,
he is not going to be able to turn this around.
Fraser runs it for a few games until new coach comes in.
The guys step it up a notch to earn the respect of the new coach and president and we're back on track.
This can happen faster than you think. I dont know how you get
"we screwed 2016 and even 2017 because we fired the coach" Its the same pieces.
oh and bez stays doing cap in his old office.

How can we as fans say we need to give a guy with no experience, some time.
Allow him to mess up while learning...
Yet a top level Chairman in england or italy cannot do that because it shows on his record?
    hell its on OUR RECORD
We are no different, We have the Money, Training grounds, Attention, Fans,
and no more time to waste than the best of them..

Gandini I can see. Bettega? That sounds like giving the reins to Nelsen.

Regardless of the pedigree of the incoming president, I would support the decision to keep Bez around, as the nuances of the salary cap, allocation, etc. would surely be overwhelming for any executive joining the organization from outside of MLS.

That was my first thought. Gandini would seem a much more qualified candidate, Bettega a "name" but not an experienced team executive.

Why did it take almost 10 years to figure out that to build a successful organization you need to start at the top. I can't believe somebody thought it was a great idea to put Anselmi in charge for so long. Mo Johnson, let's not go there.

Gandini has the chops and some dealings with MLS and North American soccer in general that would lead me to think he could do a job at an MLS club in a president type role. And i'd wager that if he doesn't end up at TFC he'll end up at another MLS club eventually.

Bettega i'm not not as anywhere sure on.

Regardless, be it an outside or within MLS hire, the president will probably be a disaster.

most likely - MLSE will probably blow it up and start over again before giving time to change me to fruition. Probably around season ticket renewal time with a promise the following year will be different.

I wish I could reject your assumption that would be so, but the last 9 years offers a lot of supporting evidence for that view.

Seeing as this is TFC we're talking about, we'll pick the inexperienced, wrong guy so Bettega it is.

He holds some sort of exec position with juve. Not sure if that's just an acknowledgment of what he did for the club as a player or something more concrete. Haven't seen anything else about his Managment exploits.

Only TFC and MLSE could conceive something so poorly thought out (if he is actually that inexperienced).
