    http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news...oronto-FC-1045

City will travel to Canada to take part in a friendly against Toronto FC at BMO Field on 27 May.

Based in Ontario, Toronto became Major League Soccer's first Canadian team. Their most significant achievements to date are four consecutive Canadian Championships and a semi-final spot in the 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League.

Reflecting on the news, Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive of Manchester City, declared: "We are very excited about the game against Toronto FC.

"We know from our visit to Vancouver in 2011 the passion for the Club which exists in Canada.

"We have a very active supporters group in Toronto, and are looking forward to bringing our team to showcase their talents to our fans there."

Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko echoed the sentiments, stating: "We are very excited to play Manchester City at BMO Field this season.

"Hosting a club like Manchester City is a great opportunity for our players to compete against one of the biggest clubs in the world."

For more details or to purchase tickets, visit www.torontofc.ca or call (416)-360-GOAL (4625).

Kick-off time will be revealed in due course.

LOL considering they're about to sack half their team we'll be playing the City U20's.

Maybe if we're lucky they'll recall Scott Sincliar.

1st team better not play much.

We're likely going to be in the hole cause of the road start, no need to make our eventual return to home harder.

I want our team to focus on league results not friendly spectacles like this.

Treating the players to this type of game is not deserved at this point given the results and injuries. Sometimes this team is beyond frustrating. Its insulting putting this type of match into a crammed month.

Considering the Reds have a player pool of over 50 players with the MLS, USL and Aacademy rosters I am not really concerned , sure roster management will come into play and no one will be left ragged.

I see these games as part of the stupidity that goes along with soccer - friendlies during the season (not to mention in a packed month), Champions League and players getting called up for international friendlies and, every four years, World Cup. I supposed it's part and parcel of growing up with NHL as the model, but this shit drives me crazy. That being said, if they are going to play friendlies, they might as well play good teams. Aguero should have good memories of our field!

$50 each for south end... Not a chance.

Supporters hate friendlies... lets announce a friendly during Southend supporters month? Some times I just want to hit my head against a wall repeatedly

How could they do this? Smack dab in the middle of Supporter appreciation month? Ha!

Like the mere idea of these friendlies is for the soccer dudes in the city and surrounding areas that turn up their nose at TFC but latch on to shitty nothing games.

Yes but often the contracts to bring teams here are tied in with 'first team member appearances' and the MLS has been prohibitive in the past on using academy and non MLS contracted players.

I would be curious if having TFCII negates some of it otherwise this is just like the rest - a not needed distraction to the players when the team and management should be focused on results that DO matter - the 6 points at play that week alone, never mind all the other fixtures.

I know but in the past academy players and even trialists have played in friendlies. The Liverpool game had a bunch of them. But I do agree the focus should soley be on the six points available that week and plan for it like the Man City game is not even being played.

It would be great to see a team with the quality of Man City - but not in the middle of our season. We know the league is really not 'Major', but it's disappointing to be reminded again that we and our club and league are there to fit another team's schedule.. Yes, there is money to be made - but at what cost to the credibility of the club and the league..

Likely seeing Man City play a bunch of these players from their EDS.

We got fined for that Liverpool game for using academy players.

The timing of this game is pure shit. May is not normal for these silly games. We have a lot going on and trial players are not on the roster.

Add to that, we have TWO bye weeks with no games, in close proximity to playing on a FIFA weekend with many starters missing.

This friendly will be an away game for TFC. Eff that crap.
