“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

^ I saw that on the ESPN website. Wow, is TFC really more popular in Quebec than Montreal? They're pretty ticked off in the comments section of that article.

It's probably all Ontario kids going to school at McGill that is driving Quebec facebook numbers in TFC favour?

Kids under 23 don't do facebook.

This reminds me of the reddit map that indicated TFC was tops in Idaho.

Tumbler, Instagram, snapchat - depends on age. Pew research stuff which is most widely published lumps 18-29 together - that's a boomer demographic assumption (everybody under 30 is the same has never really been true even for the boomers, but they are so aspirational about youthfulness, so they think everybody young thought like they did or thinks the same now)

The Supporters groups are being put in the second deck in left centre field - about where that sorta dotted line is line between the grass and the non grass on the left.

are they able to cover home plate with gras to make it look at least kind of soccer specific?

I wonder if they actually wanted to put the sod down last week, but the weather didn't cooperate. They might be able to paint it to look better, but as a playing surface it is going to be horrible. Yankees home opener isn't until Apr 6.

NYCFC should have arranged a short term lease agreement to play out of Red Bull Arena until their stadium is ready, even if it is outside the metro area. Yankee Stadium is going to be a horrible venue for soccer.

defeats the entire purpose of having a team inside NYC itself

I understand that, but it would still be a preferable option in my opinion. If I was living in New York City, I would rather drive 45 minutes to an hour to watch the team play in a proper venue as opposed to a baseball stadium for three years. The sight lines and the seating configuration are brutal.

even shitty Yankee stadium made a better first impression, if the 15k season ticket holders thing is any indication.

you only have one chance to make a first impression, esp in NYC (they take this I hate NJ thing pretty seriously)

If you were living in New York City you'd probably spend 45 minutes to an hour just trying to cross a bridge/or tunnel. Harrison is rather far for anyone in the 5 boroughs.

Edit: I remember the first time I ever went to the place it took and hour and twenty minutes to get into Manhattan because the ramp to the Lincoln Tunnel was just a mess.

Back in the day MetroStars fans had to go all the way out to the Meadowlands to have a shitty stadium experience. At least NYCFC fans will be closer to get their shitty experience. The few times I've been to RBA and seen the traffic, you would have to be insane to drive there. So no one has an ideal situation. At least RBA is getting a $256M rebuilt PATH station there which will be done by 2017.

On another note Orlando looks to be as good as Houston already.
Nice free kick by Kaka and a better save from the Houston keeper.
What's with all the empty seats, it's not hot as hell like in summer so???
