Bad news for TFC, good news for Canadian soccer and the kid himself. I'm usually quite critical of kids who go abroad early, since they usually go to clubs where they wont get a chance or isn't good at player development and they become career league one or championship players. Heerenveen has a top class scouting department, and they are more than willing to give young players a chance.
Same team that poached Rubio Rubin from the Timbers Academy. Hopefully Borges can make a similar impact.
Not possible. He's been capped for a Canadian youth side in official games, so he can't switch to an acquired nationality. Rules are that to change NTs, you have to have already had the nationality that you want to switch to at the time that you were first capped at a youth level.
No it is not the same because when he played a youth match for Ireland he was eligible to play for England. Now that Borges has played for Canada, the only nations he would be eligible to switch to are the nations he was already eligible for. So unless Borges qualified to play for the Netherlands before he played Canada, he can never play for them.
Looks like we found one of our 2 mystery trialists in Massimo Gobbi, a fullback from Parma. See Giovinco latest instagram
Why would TFC want to bring in Massimo Gobbi, whose a left back. When TFC already have Justin Morrow and Ashtone Morgan? Plus, he's 34. TFC need pacy wingers. We really don't have any other then Jackson. Findley's not a winger. Issue with TFC last night was no width. Playing to much in the middle and NYCFC clogged that area. Jason Kreis knew that because he used a similar diamond formation when he coached RSL.

Well Vanney did say a couple of the trialists were in the area, so they asked them to come. Maybe Galloppa was the one they want, and Gobbi just came along for a trip and to visit Giovinco. Even without signing him, could definitely provide some experience and help for Morgan and Morrow through practice
Keep in mind this team intentionally plays narrow so the fullbacks have space to run into. But I agree, those spots need upgrading.
We need a player with pace who can run at defenders playing on the opposite side of giovinco. That could even be a RB, if it's high quality enough.
Teams are already struggling to deal with what we are throwing at them. If we just get a little bit better balance in the squad it will be a pick your poison scenario: either focus on giovinco and watch as we space the field or stay balanced and watch him beat you individually.
Well people can take one fantasy dude off their list.
Kurtis Larson @KurtLarSUN 54s55 seconds ago New York Daily News reporting Pirlo has signed for New York City FC.
Not unexpected as he's been spending all weekend around New York.
They won't be back this season so only will see him in New York.

Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!
NYCFC DP's ages 33, 36, 37. Eeeep. Ours are 25, 27, 28 and Gilberto at 26.
Little bit of a odd play from New York. I think I read somewhere average age DP in the league is around 28 now?
With all this can't see us buying a 34 year old LB of all things. I am sure their are (hope) more trialists in the mix.
Parma declared bankrupt. Relegated to Serie D. All players now free agents.

Spoke 1 on 1 with Vanney. Told me Galloppa had last training session today. Headed home now. No deal imminent. #TFC
