It's probably the same for the Argos, they could give the tickets away for free like they do for every other live TV show. We keep talking about this like it's 8 home games for the Argos but it's really about every CFL game on TSN.

True. Though the Argos do have to look after salaries themselves. I would think they are a little more sensitive to the gate aspect to this. But then again, TV revenue would be higher (than MLS, not SUM) so maybe it evens out.

...Market for soccer in this town is 5k diehard/supporter groups, 5k soccer moms/dads/kids, 10k casual event fans (Most of which get tickets through friends/employers that buy SSH to multiple MLSE teams for client entertainment purposes). I sit in 107. Its a different set of fans every game, most get tickets given to them to try it out. That why we usually only get 8-10k for wednesday games (last game being an exception due to "newest" stadium).... .

Think ur wrong there about the potential market. If this team becomes a winner, scarcity will come back.

The difficulty may not be with the hybrid grass - Desso says lots of people do the coverings for events, etc. The question is whether the FieldTurf or equivalent can be used without permanent installation. I know that at the New Meadowlands (or whatever the hell it is called now), the end zone FT is swapped out when they have to change btw Jets and Giants colors, but have no idea on the technical details for doing that for the entire surface.

Thing is that the Argos don't have the money or support to build or operate in a football specific stadium and since a lot people feel the need to keep the dead horse alive for the greater good then this is the only viable option.

Maybe but let's not forget that this conversation started with Grey Cups and Winter Classics and it was started publicly by Tim Leiweke... who at the time had no stake in the CFL team.

Stadium expansion... on a stadium they didn't own... was done on MLSE's initiative. Likely taking advantage of a climate of public funding for the Pan Am games, the Argos situation at the Rogers Center and the financial reality that their owner wasn't going to be able (or willing) to build a new stadium. It came together nicely for them.

And if you end up blaming the Argos for this move, all the better for MLSE. Their PR department deserves a good bonus.

And through actually reading it fully, someone from Detroit flew here on the 9th for most of the day before returning. After seeing Babcock met with the Sabres yesterday, the timing might be right for this to happen.

A conspiracy guy would say that since Rogers has NHL rights and didn't want the Argos in the first place that they timed this out to stick it to Bell and L.T.
