Yep. Toronto is neither a sports city or an arts city. It's a working city with a significant number of people who are completely intolerant toward the very thought of new recreational or entertainment developments.
This is a city that torpedoed a plan for a casino and convention centre at Exhibition Grounds - that project is now going to Pickering. This is a city that turned down a proposal to build North America's largest waterpark - that project is now going to Milton. In fact, Ripley's Aquarium has been the only new entertainment facility (non-sport) built in the City since the opening of Canada's Wonderland in 1981.
