With the Union Streetcars opening up again, this should be relieved a bit.

But I've often wondered whether there is a safety threshold for that underpass.

Great point, I've been wondering about this myself. We take the Go to every game, and, it gets a "wee" bit crowded. Throw another, possible, 8000 people into the mix...yikes.

    it must be somewhat.
it is inevitable with the extreme cold we've had this month.

with that said, i live less than 1km from the stadium.
i purposely drive by it at least once per day.
and they are always working, and working late into the night.

    All we need now, is:

    a) The TTC to be aware that TFC exist and to put on extra streetcars pre-match

    b) For them to have streetcars waiting in the Exhibition loop at the end of the match.

The tunnel bottleneck are the stairs on the north side. However they are currently in the process of extending the tunnel to a new set of stairs north of a new 5th track. So those exiting to the train platform will go a different way than those going to Atlantic. This should effectively increase the capacity of the underpass.

Still, I'm glad I'm catching the Lakeshore East train.

Hey look at that, a whole page so far with no pictures and only comments. I knew this concept was too good to be true.

Disclaimer: Yes I realize it's somewhat hypocritical of me to add another post without pictures regardless of the post content. Shut up.

I drive through Exhibition Place everyday on my way to work and have seen the renovations slowly coming together. Maybe I'll pull over one of these days and actually take a photo or two.

Progress is pretty slow and I don't see it being done by May.

Really? The treads and risers of the third section went up in about day. It looks like they are flying through that at least. Like any reno, I bet they're done the main structure fairly quickly. It'll be the finishings in the new bars , clubs, etc that take the time.

That's what I'm thinking. However they have to be on schedule they've accomplished a lot with the harsh winter we've had.

The finer details probably won't be done for opening day but I don't expect another THF debacle.

Most of the work being done is being done out of sight. What you're seeing when you drive by on the gardiner is just the tip of the iceberg.

The tunnel club (where the players come out) and the locker room area is completely unrecognizable. Although they still have a lot of work to do and they are slightly behind, they have a contingency plan because they have to be done by May 1st. No other option.

I'm certain that they are working 18 or 24 hour days.

I'll drive by at 6am and staff is working.
and they'll have the lights on at night until quite late.
    like 11pm.

i'm sure the cold has slowed them down.
    but it hasn't stopped them.

I live right downtown and am out the door by 6:45/7am, and pass quite a few of the construction projects going on in the core on my way to work, and they're already working on them at that time of the morning (yes, even the mornings from the past few weeks where it's been almost -30 with the wind chill).

If they can start work at 7am on downtown condos, they can work on BMO. Working outdoors is working outdoors, no matter what you're doing.

It's kinda fun sitting at a dead stop on the Gardiner in traffic in the construction zone that has been going on for a year now and will continue for another and watching the guys at BMO still hard at work at 11:00 pm.

So TFC is getting new locker rooms? It was much needed but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

I wasn't in the locker room, just the areas outside of it and the hallways around it. The biggest change I saw was the tunnel area. Completely redone.

I drove past this weekend, interesting that it appears the structure for the new stands is modular concrete design instead of aluminum. Wonder why the change in design?

    went for a jog tonight.
    took some snaps.

    some interesting things.
how the wrap around concourse connecting West, South, East is shapping up.
    it looks good.

there appears to be an elevator being installed at Gate 4. From the Ground directly to the press box.

there appears to be a new gate between 3b and 4. Supporter's Gate??
