That would make sense and you need time between then and the 10th for it to be inspected and signed off on in time for the home opener.

They may have to do a test event as well - test all the security, concessions etc. - similar to the one they did in 2007 before the original first game when they showed a game on the big screen.

    There's a game May 2nd vs. Philadelphia.

I doubt a test event is needed. They certainly did not have one at Tim Horton's Field last year. The Labour Day game was the first event there with the Club Level and Upper West side not open to the public - but the rest of the stadium opened up on a temporary occupancy permit that did not get granted until about 17 hours before the game was played. City inspectors gave the OK around 8:00PM on the Sunday night for the 1:00PM game the next day against the Argos.

Ha ha, they may not be seeing Tim Horton's Field as the gold standard for stadium reno & opening that they want to emulate...

Obviously no where close to the finished product, but that is quite the lop sided stadium.

It looks like they got a lot of work to do. It doesn't look like they will be ready in time, or if they do pass the inspection tests good enough to play on May 2nd my guess is it will be ok to play, but still a mess of construction and other things to complete in and around the stadium even with fans coming to watch TFC play. I wasn't at Tim Hortans field but I am guessing it wasn't actually "Complete" fully when they hosted that game. That all said, with better weather now, they will move 5 times as fast in the next month building as they were in the last couple months of the extreme cold weather.

I'm really liking the look of the tunnel club. Anyone a member or know costs?

let's hope they have time to tighten all the bolts, so nothing pops out (like at the stadium opener back in 2007)

I'm looking forward to going into the stadium early one match just to walk around and see the place with fresh eyes.

I'll always think that new second deck is way too big. At most they should've kept it the same size as the west stand.
But I think other stadiums such as Salt Lake with the small second deck feel way more intimate.
If the seats are always full, I guess I'll be proven wrong. And perhaps it will feel different when (if) we get a roof.
But right now I'm not impressed with the results.

Plus you have to remember, the lower bowl of the East Stand is about 10 rows highers than its counterpart on the west side.

One of the upper decks at Tim Horton's Field was not open when the Ti-Cats moved in.

The first TFC game at BMO is actually May 10th vs Houston (5pm).

my guess we will be in the same situation here. THF looked ready in June (all seats in, field ready), but didn't open until September and fully open until October. Putting seats in is easy, its all the stuff underneath the takes to time, bathrooms, plumbing, concessions, electrical, finishing, saftety, sprinkers, etc.

The stadium basically has to look ready now, for them to be ready by May 10th.
They must have a backup plan -- not open the new deck, rent THF or lamport, play on the road

I was wondering this as well, simply because they have not released single game tickets yet.

I have an email from TFC regarding single game seats, supposed to start next week.

"As a Season Seat Holder, you have the benefit of getting pre-sale access to match tickets before the general public (April 9th) and at an exclusive discounted member price!"

I don't think MLSE is good at anything, unless its collecting money.

    This right here.
They may look far from finished but I am willing to bet that they are closer to being finished by the deadline then you think.
PCL is not some mickey mouse company.

The stand could be unfinished, closed off, and collapse on itself for all I care. I just want to win the home opener.

It still doesn't really feel like the season has started yet because of the lack of a home game.

I see the new scoreboard is going in this year. There was some talk that it wouldn't be installed until next year.

With all that space underneath the south, couldn't FO build some storage space for all the supporters groups to store our flags? Or even give us access to that area so we could paint banners.
