Gotta love Caldwell. Hope TFC FO doesn't sour the relationship.

I don't mind Caldwell but he's lost another step from last year and if he and Perquis are both starting we're going to get burned on the counter more than a few times this year.
Not very keen with Hagglund playing rb, love him in the Centre especially on corners as he's shown he can be dangerous in the air. (Think back to the bunch of crossbars and posts last year, kid could have 5 or 6 goals last year.)
Haven't looked through the thread and don't know the result. Is there a link that I could use to watch a replay of the game? Would love it if someone could PM me one if there is.
Thanks in advance
Good: Creavalle, Cheyrou, Caldwell. Bad: Altidore. Ugly: defence versus the counter (we should have been behind at the half, could have been down 3-0), Hagglund at RB.

Must call you out on that. Carver was not a "disaster" and nor was Cummins. For that matter, nor was Nelsen. His team built steadily in its game, as he promised. The "disaster" has been changing coaches far too often to those of different and even opposing philosophies - Carver/Cummins to Preki; Preki to Winter; Winter to Mariner to name a few - and firing Nelsen before the end of the season. All poor management decisions. That's the disaster.
Just watched the highlights from earlier today. We were lucky not to have AT LEAST 3 goals against us. Bendik seemed really off, coming off his line at the wrong times, but at least Perquis was there to bail him out.
Enjoyed watching the game in the sun today. Before the game started Bez came over and shook my hand and thanked me for being there. Surprised me fore sure.
Definitely.
I love this guy he's everything I love about this team. Hard as nails professional that gives his all. And especially after taking to him when he came to Joes for his Man of the Year he loves this city.
Was thinking something along the line of Steven Caldwell Hard as Nails.
After watching the match a second time, in fairness to Caldwell you're right. I forgot this was Caldwell's first 90 min match and he had a better match than I first thought. After listening to Caldwell's comments after the match and hearing that him and Perquis are still ironing out their communication between each other, I guess getting caught out might happen a few times until they have a true feeling for each other.
One thing I want Vanney to really try in one of these last few pre-season matches, is playing Giovinco at the wing with Osorio pulling the strings at the 10.
I know that's not how it's going to go in season, but I feel like Vanney isn't exploring all his options properly if he doesn't at least experiment this option in a pre-season friendly. I think Giovinco could be almost unstoppable on the wing, given the relative overall poor quality of outside backs in MLS. Either out and out winger that whip in accurate crosses to Altidore, or inverted Ala Osorio.
^agreed, wing might be a good spot. Although if this game is any indicator, he won't get much in the way of protection from MLS officials. Creavalle just hammered the opposing winger every time he got beat (which was often) and they sheepishly gave him a yellow card in the 70th minute or so despite a whole game of fouling. It's generally an area MLS refs are pretty poor. Lots of clutching, grabbing, obstruction, that isn't called.
I re-watched the second half and without the bad streaming quality the wind was a lot more noticeable. Altidore just attacks the box and 5-10 crosses just sailed over the net into the stands. In a more typical game he probably gets a solid chance on a few of those. Although we shouldn't ignore getting the ball to his feet around the box either.
Confusing tactics... still say our weaker link is Vanney / Bez ... not sure they can handle the squad properly , the handling of armband was piss poor and stuff like that ( as minor as some feel ) says a lot about how they coach/mentor. I think we have the talent to get here, not sure the bus drivers know the way !! . In spite of this Caldwell was clearly one of our best on the day...
