    Default Toronto FC Academy Schedule

After going back and fourth with the OSA regarding being allowed to field a team, the Reds team in PDL has been approved and the schedule is out. It will be interesting to see the roster compared to the one used for the entry in League 1 Ontario. I would look for the PDL one to have a lot of past academy kids who are now playing NCAA on it. It would help prevent a situation like the Jay Chapman one where his homegrown was questioned.

PDL Sat May 16 7:30 PM ET TFC Academy at Michigan Ultimate Soccer Arenas
PDL Tue May 19 2:30 PM ET K-W United at TFC Academy Kia Training Ground

A lot of soccer this summer for us to follow (MLS, USL PRO, PDL and League One). However, I don't see PDL lasting too long if League One keeps on growing (increase of teams and quality of play)

A lot of soccer for the players too...

One would have to think there will be academy players playing on this team.

What will be interesting is seeing the total list of TFC homegrown players in college.

That's wishful thinking. League 1 will be the bottom of the pyramid until they can at least get the league nation spanning. If it comes to that I could see a jump past PDL but it's the USL's to lose.

I love it means an incredible amount of progress when it comes to developing players and preparing them for the next level.

I think in the long term we're going to see third division soccer similar to junior hockey where there will be 3 regional leagues (we already got two with Ontario and Quebec while Western Provinces are in talks forming a regional league).

PDL isn't supported by CSA while OSA give TFC one year permission to have their PDL then it will be review next year to see if PDL is good for Ontario soccer (which by the way isn't since PDL is summer league that only play few games)

However, the long term goal is to have Ontario League One to be main 3rd division league. I don't see PDL lasting long in Canada since soccer leaders in this country are trying to separate themselves with US soccer and form their path (3rd division and potentially 2nd or "1B" division soccer)

    a side question

is there a futsol league or indoor soccer league in ontario?

would love to see MLS get a futsal team for the younger ages for ball control development purposes

I don't think there is a serious futsal/indoor soccer league, but provincial soccer bodies do host provincial championship tournaments for futsal and indoor soccer though.

Yes. It's one of the fastest growing sports organizations right now.

I got to meet the man making it happen all the way from here to Nunavut back at the CSA town hall last fall.

Plans are great and I'm all for Canada squeezing in as many levels as possible but these unsupported leagues have been doing well enough without CSA approval for years.

U.S. Soccer has a official futsal team/league/plan of some sort, I don't think it's directly affiliated with MLS though.

If Bez has done something right, it's sorting out development pyramid. Kudos to him.
