Yeah he was born in the US but parents are both Iranian. I am sure he still considers himself Iranian as well as American. Ethnic communities within US and Canada are still identified based on their heritage even if born domestically. That's fine though. However anyone wants to look at it. I don't care enough to debate too much

Issey was our first asian player, if we're going based off those standards.

Take that for what you will. I read it as a soccer decision for a chance to play in WC for Beita, considering he was holding out for USMNT call up before commiting to Iran.

    Real Name: Tsubasa Endoh
    HT: 5' 7" WT: 141
    Age: 0 (01/05/2016)
    Hometown: Tokyo, Japan

Um, he was born 9 days ago? Did MLS drop the rule that a player must be weaned before they can be drafted?

Next pick is 56th overall. In reality the day is done for TFC.

Was just reading the MLS article on him yesterday. Seems like a good pick, Japan is turning out some really creative attacking players lately. Calling him an earthquake survivor is a bit of a stretch by the MLS PR team though, kinda like if I called myself a car crash survivor after rear-ending a smart car while going 15 kilometres an hour

Uh, if you read the article, he was in Fukashima out on the practice ground as a kid on the day.

On one Friday in March 2011, five years after Endoh moved to the academy in Fukushima, the midfielder remembers training with his teammates as his thoughts drifted toward the following week, when he and the rest of the squad would have to go through an exhausting fitness exam – the hardest part of their week.
Then, a little before 3 p.m., the ground started to move.
Endoh and his teammates raced toward the center circle, where they huddled together. Earthquakes are relatively common in Japan, and all the kids at the JFA Academy knew what to do when one hit. They got to the middle of the field and sat down, as far away from the huge light stanchions as possible.
The lights fell. Walls crumbled. After a few minutes, the earth finally stopped shaking.

Why do I now know Polk's mom was an alcoholic?

Anyway, I love the DON just referred to the sophistication of the draft that started out with a kid scarfed and un-scarfed and then rescarfed with a different scarf. Sophisticated Scarfing.

    Nope, Endoh is the fifth.

First was De Guzman (half Filipino), second was Demetrius Omphroy (played for the Philippines), and third is Issey.

After watching his video on the MLS site, I think we selected him based on adding a Japanese anime element to our cartoon commercials/sales strategy.

Survivor makes it sound like he was crawling through the remains of his home, on the verge of death, to me at least. Different interpretations

Yeah, the MLS article states that his English was very poor upon arrival but he practiced it often, to the point where he's now graduating with a degree from the University of Maryland.

This was a fun walk from a year ago.

Did Bono challenge Bendik? Well he's got a better chance to start now.
Chapman, Simonin, Thomas all benefiting from us acquiring a USL team.

I don't know if it's just me, but I don't feel the same sort of hype/excitement for the draft as I used to. Like none whatsoever this year.

Gets a big "meh" from me.

Seems like a solid pickup. There wasn't a position on the team that we needed to draft to fill in, but if he's any good as a #10 or winger, he should provide some nice depth and flexibility. As a #10 he could play at the top of the diamond, or if he can play RW, then it would allow them to go 4-3-3 with Seba on the left. Ideally he pushes Osorio to be better
