There are too many egos in the USL executive to abide being a Div 3 league, nevermind what's best for soccer development. Their animousity towards NASL is palpable. USSL should force USL teams who want to go to Div 2 to join NASL, or have NASL and Div 2 USL teams compete in a combined Div 2 format with a conference for teams from each league.

Good interview with USL president Tim Holt on moving up to D2 status
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

Yeah, it's better they sign them full time and let them go to University locally part time than sending them to the NCAA....

The should for sure. MLSE should partner with York which will be directly connected to Downsview via subway in the next year or two, and should provide Academic resources.
