hard to predict what formation Vanney will play. I think 4-4-2 diamond best masks TFC's lack of quality in wing right now. (I'm assuming Gilberto is sold)
-----------Bendik
Bloom-Caldwell-Perquis-Morrow
----------Creavalle
-----Osorio-----Bradley
----------Giovinco
------Moore----Altidore
With Altidore and Giovinco, I think there will be more emphasis on putting the ball on the ground and use Altidore as hold up and everyone else exploiting channels with Bradley and Giovinco as catalysts on offensive end. Most of the attack will go through the centre, but the fullbacks will be required to push up as much as possible to provide with.

lol Cassano is now a free agent, wonder if hes coming to MLS
The great MLS agent Ron Waxman, who represents The General in addition to the newest Red, Eriq Zavaleta.

It's ridiculous how much talent is coming into the league this year. You could literally field 2 power house teams
#MLS.3.0
Gilberto may be going back to Brazil with Vasco. They hilariously listed his goal stats backwards, making him seem godlike.

Imagine Joey S, Klopas and Adam Braz trying to control Cassano.
LOL, 21 goals in 7 games. Nobody tell them, let's see what transfer fee we can get!
Being serious though, I can't imagine Gilberto would be up for a move back to Brazil. I think he'll end up in Mexico.
Sign a wide midfielder now and I'm pretty happy with the squad heading into the season. We can evaluate after the first 5-6 games whether we need an upgrade at DM.

Is Vasco code for Vancouver? Send Gilberto there for Laba!
2009–2011 Santa Cruz 31 (14) 2010 → Vera Cruz (loan) 18 (7) 2011–2013 Internacional 39 (5) 2012 → Sport (loan) 25 (7) 2013 → Portuguesa (loan) 24 (14) 2014– Toronto FC

We`re doing it again.
If he moves to Europe my guess is France what w/ vanney's connections.
I truly hope we find a way to keep Gilberto. Something tells me letting him go will be a major mistake. Our overall attack will be much weaker without him. We need two top forwards AND a quality attacking mid to compensate for the fact that we are weaker down the wings(baring more signings). If Gilberto leaves, we will be down to one top forward and Giovinco will have to be played as more of a withdrawn forward, not the creative force in the center that we need. This could put a lot more pressure on Altidore and Giovinco to carry the team without that extra top striker. Without Gilberto or a talented replacement (non DP) our core of forwards leaves me a bit nervous. Dike is coming off of 2 major injuries, Moore blows hot and cold, Findlay may or may not work out and Hamilton is raw.
If we rely primarily on Giovinco and Altidore I think the question needs to be asked, how many goals will each one need to contribute to make the play-offs? How many goals will the other players need to contribute to reach our points total to make the playoffs?
With two top forwards and a distinct AM, the goal scoring load will be much easier if shared. If not, I think Altidore will have to score 15-22 goals and Giovinco 10 plus.
Thoughts?

There has got to be some way of creative accounting they can use to keep Gilberto here. I am sure there is.
The thing I liked about Gilberto was he was a good playmaker he did have a few assists on some of Defoe's goals. That is one thing I will miss
I don't get it. This has echoes of the love for Tie Domi/Darcy Tucker years ago. People are overrating that NY free kick incident, and his "hustle", in their overall evaluation of the guy. Gilberto was paid to produce, and didn't produce enough, for $1.2M. That is a lot of money in MLS, these other signings have made us numb to that.
He scuffed a ton of chances. As a pure soccer decision, moving Gilberto is defensible.
I can also see the case for keeping him, this wasn't a clear cut call, but I can't really argue that he deserved another chance either. For what he made, that was a pretty iffy year last year.
I share the fear that he might do a lot better elsewhere.
