Why? They sponsor Whitecaps right now, why would they stop Rogers doing same for TFC?

Rogers has step up their promotion since they bought 37.5% shares of MLSE. If you're Rogers customer, you can win seats for games or collect enough reward points to get tickets for TFC games which is highly popular (they run out of tickets for rest of season). Also, they're only current Canadian company from TFC sponsors who are rich enough to spend $4 million per year to sponsor their jersey. Also, Rogers only broadcast TFC games on their networks when comes to MLS. It makes too much sense for Rogers to sponsor TFC especially how they're stepping up promoting TFC lately.

KIA is another one, but article in the end says one of expert excepts it will be a Canadian company who is current TFC sponsor.

Canadian tire...they own Marks, and already have their name on the Ottawa hockey arena.

You may be right but since Bell and Rogers don't get along in the boardroom, I can't see Bell being all that keen to have Rogers' name on the jersey, especially since Rogers' has already invested a lot into marketing surrounding TFC with their name.

I would be surprised if it was Bell or Rogers, why not pull some external revenue for the company rather than half of it paying into itself? KIA certainly will be a bidder, they already have the naming to the training grounds so it's a logical next step for them in terms building more brand association / loyalty. As for the quote about the Canadian company, that just seems like someone marinating the bidding process.

If BMO continues as a partner, then you won't see TD shirts.

I still have a season one shirt with TORONTO on the front. Would love it if they did that for one seaosn while they find a new sponsor for 2016. They'd sell a lot more shirts that season than they normally do...

Lots of logical possibilities. Here would be some alternatives for shirt sponsors

    1. @IamJermainDefoe
    2. The Toronto Argonauts
    3. Fieldturf
    4. Nike (Umbro or Puma)

Why not? Guys, you gotta realise money is money. Billion dollar corporations don't act like jealous spouses or schoolyard rivals. You know what Bell sees in their minds if Rogers offers 5 million a year for the shirt sponsor rights? They see the 5 million a year.

Rogers actually makes a lot of sense for TFC. I don't think their marketing department is going to be happy with Vancouver sporting shirts with Bell plastered on them and having no representation themselves.

Also, it would look sorta sharp, I think:

Someone else I respect mentioned this. That could be a big part of what happened.

Which would you put more dough into if it were you, TFC or the Raptors?

If TL was still around mentally, I'd say it would have to be an international brand, which fits KIA.

Rogers isn't cared about anywhere then Canada.

I also still don't think it will be internal as this is income potential. Since when do Rogers give up on income potential for 14K of viewers and a bit of "See Bell, we are big too!" aggro stuff? They didn't get rich by being petty.

I don't want it to be a marginal company operating at the edges, like Herbalife or bwin.

KIA would be great. They could figure out how to link one of those muscular squirrels they use in their ads to our legendary 2007 striker.

It is the marginal companies that are looking to raise their public awareness who are the ones who sometimes will spend the most money on these type of deals. Something along the likes of an energy drink like 5 Hour Energy. There are all sorts of possibilities.

You know, with all the talk of Bell or Rogers as sponsor, why can't it be Bell and Rogers? Rogers would get the front of the jersey and Bell would get the shoulders/sleeves. They own MLSE, so why wouldn't they both take advantage of free advertising on the jerseys? Of course, if they can sell the space at their asking price that okay. Either way, they win.

They also bought sportcheck....who sponsors the team and just took over the Real Sports store across from the ACC.

Bell own TSN who expanded to 5 channels and seem to be upping their MLS coverage, so even being a owner, they do have a 'soccer' tendency given the whitecaps shirts and all.

There are 3 multi-level marketing organization shirt sponsors but none in Eastern Conf (LA, FCD and RSL). Hopefully it stays that way.

In thinking of potential sponsors you have to ask why is BMO dropping them?

Ultimately it is the value received doesn't justify the spend.

Companies with similar target markets to BMO aren't likely to see it as a good investment.

Considering the hype of Defoe didn't translate into mainstream following, I have to think it will be a second tier type sponsor or if a big name, someone buying into the Leafs property and TFC becomes an add on.

you could ask the same question why Nike dropped Utd, whatever their reasons where and many were speculated, Adidas jumped right in with an even bigger deal to replace them.
