Does anyone even want Defoe back at this point? We'll see how many games he plays the rest of the season. I don't think he gives a shit, unless he feels playing and doing well will serve his interests in moving elsewhere.

Depends. Do you want to make the play-offs? Defoe would be integral in that pursuit.

IF Bradley goes, this club is in huge trouble from a casual fan perspective.
unfortunately, "the worst team in the world" moniker is still in a lot of people's minds.
TFC had a huge off-season, there was energy, the began with an enormous win on the road in Seattle. BMO was full.
And now we have a few poor results, and front office turmoil.
There is an inherent defeatist attitude in this city when it comes to the sports teams.
The timing of this announcement only magnified things.
The casual sports fan doesn't understand the transfer window, they see it as a team's star player asking out of town.
Toronto doesn't tolerate "second rate" clubs.

If true, idiotic....be prepared to see your asset waste away on injured reserve.

@KristianJack: "The offer was a record for the club and (close to) the highest offer ever received for MLS but we are committed to our fans & declined it."

@LukeWileman: Does Jermain Defoe want to be in Toronto? Bezbatchenko gives one word answer: "yes."

@torontofc: Bez: Defoe's injury remains the same, he is still suffering from sports hernia symptoms. #TFCLive

@KristianJack: "We love having Jermain here. He has symptoms to a sports hernia & rehabbing. In the next couple of weeks we will see if he needs surgery."

sooooooo. Could this last statement be the REAL reason a transfer wasn't completed?

Defoe will be professional in his performance..fair for him to expect his team mates to execute a pass when he is clear and made a run thou....Bradly is a larger concern...

    One last post..........from BBC....

    Sandro on his way?
    Posted at 22:02
QPR manager Harry Redknapp tells BBC Radio 5 live: "We have got Sandro from Tottenham. We tried to get one or two others and made a big effort to get Jermain Defoe. He wanted to come home but there was no way Toronto would release him before their play-offs. We also wanted Fabio Borini but his wage demands were way out of our league.

Well, does, not all this transfer talk and Defoe being in England suggest he was open to a transfer? If not, what was all this about?

Tim Bezbatchenko says Defoe was frustrated with the course of the team and that is one of the reasons why they made a coaching change.

TB seems to be all over the place, depending on who is quoted.

Would be nice to see all his soundbites over the last few days grouped together.

So Harry says Defoe wanted to come home. In other words: not happy here. Alright then, Defoe, go out there and score bags of goals for us, and maybe your ticket home will be facilitated in January instead.

Possibly true...problem is we don't have the players to place the ball at his feet consistently...Tim is not an independent source. What i have heard from a player is the dressing room was split between Tim and Ryan...but who really knows the whole story..never will. Ryan is very black and white and know to be stubborn. Heard that from several people who know him well. He is very demanding which worked when he played and led by example..hard to do when you are asking it from players and not actually leading by example...

I think we still lack a couple of key players to be successful in MLS and lack depth.

Bez, or somebody, seems to have also gotten the CSA to release a couple of defenders - Henry and now Morgan available for next week.

if this is true and Defoe was not happy with Nelsen, maybe Defoe might be happy with a new coach? You get word of Bradley not happy with coach, now Defoe with Nelsen. TFC locker room. So much for happy family that it's supposedly is
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

I don't get it...rehab for a couple of weeks, may still need surgery,he may be out for the rest of the season, why not take the money and run?
he is gone in jan anyway, there is more to this,i think the MLS said no to this looks bad for the league.

Does anyone really believe tfc turned down a record transfer offer? If So, why would they? You have an aging, injury prone, and possibly unhappy asset, Is this bs?

After a beer, this is (somewhat) clear to me.

    Keep Defoe for renewals.

QPR or other teams wouldn't really have him until October/November anyways. So wait a few weeks and make the deal then.

They become assured of his health status. TFC retains him to save face with their customers… then away he goes. It's a win for all sides, including Defoe.

    Yes it is BS.

MLSE might be taking a fall here on behalf of MLS. Defoe is not very good at hiding his disgruntlement, so we'll know by October where this sits with him. If MLSE wanted to blame MLS, they could right now but I doubt TL and TB would want to do that.
