    Quotes from Hamilton:

"It was a tough time with the language and the new culture, but it was good to see that not everywhere in the world is as good as what Toronto FC offers. You really learn to appreciate what you have. Coming up through the academy in Toronto, it was always a comfortable feeling, and you’re always around the best facility. So you really appreciate it when you experience something not as good in Europe."

"You’re kind of an outsider because in Europe [the mentality is] like you’re coming for their spot. You really have to fight every day in training. Just like, in training, it was a fight, like you’re going to war just in practice. You learn to step your game up and that makes you a lot better in all aspects. You need to realize you want to be a professional player in a situation like that."

Really not sure what to think about this whole experiment.

Sounds like it was a rough time. Probably was the right time for TFC to retrieve him. Not a bad thing for younger players to see that playing in Europe isn't all like being at Chelsea or Barça.

I'm sure Jordan and Bez would say that it was worth it.

The Portuguese lower divisions are quite weak, realistically most of the clubs have little to no money or real fan support other than the locals or die-hards, everyone ends up supporting one of the Big 3 clubs (FC Porto, Benfica, Sporting CP) in Portugal even if there's a local club to cheer for, plus the country's weak economic state plays a huge factor. You really can't compare it with TFC, whose owned by a company with millions to spend on facilities/coaches/training. Really the lower divisions in Portugal rely on the big teams in the first division to loan their players there (and now the Top 6 fist division teams have B teams playing in the 2nd division, which makes it even more difficult if not impossible to loan any decent talent from them). So they have to look elsewhere for talent - in this case even the U.S. or Canada, because it's also getting harder to get players from South America (mostly Brazilians).

Jordan Hamilton has looked very good so far, and we were unfortunate to be scored on seeing as it seemed a clear foul on Carducci.

And I don't want to be too harsh as it's probably some intern trying her first game ... but isn't this some of the worst commentary ever? At least try to learn some of the names .."19 passes the ball ... or was it 14? 14 I stand corrected. 14 passes to ... passes to 16?"

What's with Hamilton's shin guard? He took it out during the first celebration and now keeps showing it to everyone after the game.

Was there an actual stream for the game? I just had the live updates from the Concacaf.com site.

Good result, the big test is tomorrow against Mexico. Go Canada!!

    No legal/official stream.

I thought CONCACAF used to stream all these games but I guess not.

That is hilarious. To call a game in any sport you need to learn the players names. Even during the broadcast one can fins that info out.

    vs Mexico now
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

    Thanks for that

That last goal for Hon to win was 100% a game winning strike. No one could have saved that !!
