    Default MLS Week 14

    For those not watching:

Obafemi Martins scored two goals, including a penalty after a Fire guy got a second yellow for a two footed lunge in the box.

Then the Fire scored as the Sounder defence parted like a green sea and Frei didn't cover his far post.

And then...before the restart, Martins gets a straight red, and nobody is quite sure why. No camera covered it.

All this in the first half.

Earlier caps were up 2-0, philly came back to take a 3-2day lead before caps tied it up 3-3 on a late pk. Laba didnt have a good game
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

Rey not in the lineup for Columbus. Espindola PK fail at the death costs DCU 2 points. Not as much a Panenka as the sort of lob a Dad does to his 3 year old kid.

One thing I'm noticing quite consistantly all over the leauge.

With a cross coming in, there rarely is anybody going to the far post. Midfielders seem afraid to overcommit. Amazing how many balls get past the near post and the keeper and go sailing through.

And now Amerikwa gets a yellow for a shove in the chest but Peneda gets a yellow for simulation as he dove to the ground like he'd been hit in the head. About time - too many begging for yellows in this league.

Huge performance by Stefan Frei to keep the 3 pts for Sounders. I know his season has been mixed but he was on big time tonight in Chicago, at least in the second half (didn't see the earlier part).

Another week working out great for us. 3 points for TFC, the all-East matchup ends in a draw, and both inter-conference games lost by Eastern teams. Rest of the East wants us in the playoffs too it seems.

I saw the Chicago vs Sounders game. My thoughts:

    1. I still miss Frei and Chad Barrett lol
    2. Shipp from Chicago is truly something else, scores two screamers and his facial expression is like "so what" love the banners #holyshipp lol

Seattle matches have been entertaining this year. I have been turned on to watching the rest of the league, something I rarely used to do.

In the last minute of extra time, LAG striker Zardes is along in front of the net with the ball coming at his feet.......and whiffs.

This a minute after I had the great pleasure of watching Gargan take the ball from out wide in the attacking third and retreat with pace all the way back to his own penalty area, and almost lose it there. It looked like he was attacking the wrong net.

He continues to "blow our minds" with his finishing ability.

New England had a shitload of chances but the New Jersey Red Bulls had a shitload of luck. Looks like NJ is making a surge, but let's see if they can continue after the WC break.

The league better keep Plata under control. With size and strength like that, he could be putting really large players in jeopardy

They only sing when they're winning or playing against us (you know, to show us Torontonians/GTA folks how it's done)

EDIT: Apparently they left to protest after 3 of their members were kicked out of stadium by security

It's a protest. And given Garber is there, not sure if it's a good idea. There was talk of an all star game before tonight.
