It was the contracts. Deguzman was a DP, and Dero wasn't but felt he should have been. At that point in his career, who could blame him.

Aritcle on O'Dea (rehabbing his injury with Celtic), he's currently a FA. He would be a welcome addition to our backline.
Wow, Toronto must have seemed like paradise compared to that experience.
Salary Cap is much too low in this league.
"If I can find the right club, for a long-term thing where I can settle down,
that would be ideal. If it came to it, I'd be comfortable taking a short-term
thing."

At this point I don't see the harm in bringing in almost anyone with previous experience in this team or MLS.
I was a little too young to remember the de guzman era but for 120k? sure
I think its clear we need to get a DP AM this offseason, we really need a definitive attacking veteran who knows what they are doing on offense.
We also need to add 2 CB's and add another RB. With the cap going up I want to see us also get some actual wingers too for a change.
I wouldn't bother with GDG, just why do we even want past failures.
o'dea almost makes too much sense right now, especially if he is willing to go short term.
TFC: get a good defender while giving up few assets, knows the league and loves the city.
O'Dea: knows the city, club, league. can get playing time and potentially find a home again.
discussion: hey Darren, here is a contract for the rest of the season. in the offseason our CBA is up so once that is up we can talk a longer deal but until then we don't want to lock into a long term deal. by the way this time we actually have quality around the pitch.
no way he'd come here without some kind of guarantee of a longer term contract, sadly i can see the club letting caldwell go at the end of the season with only 1 year left on his deal and at 364 000 (!) a year whilst getting up there in age, given this i could see darren or anyone for that matter come in for the remainder of the season and take Caldwell's place next season
I think O'Dea would make a lot sense in the shot term. We wouldn't be able to get him long term until at least the CBA is renewed, we don't know when that will happen, and I doubt he would want to wait until next spring for us to give him an offer.
He does have family though, I could see that being a potential problem.
Please no O'Dea.
1. Why repeat failed history?
2. We don't need athletics centred cb's. We need a brain driven one. One that can distribute the ball and show hagglund and Henry what they need to get better at. And one that can be the boss of the back line.
Our last two CBs haven't been enough. Let's not repeat.
I'd love them to spend money in the off season on a cb that I described and a field general attacking central midfielder.
O'Dear here we go again..
I'd bring in De Guzman to see what he could do... Osorio and Warner have been below average imo. I don't get the love for Osorio, I get he's Canadian... but i don't see any potential. Warner is a good depth guy.
Osorio scored most of his goals while playing LA last season
Wow, DeGuzman? We're talking Julian right? If we need a midfielder that's physically weak, doesn't close down space and flails about then look no further than Kyle Bekker.
At this point, no matter what, O' Dea could help.
JDG on the other hand, is redundant here. We have lots of soft floaters who don't close down space already.
Don't care what anyone says Warner > De Guz big time and I don't think Warner is fantastic or anything. I just know JDG is pretty much garbage.
Exactly and also, if by some chance we don't fall to complete crap and we do make the playoffs, who wouldn't feel more comfortable with O' Dea and Caldwell as the CBs in the playoffs over Caldwell and one of the kids. I would go with experience and O' Dea is better than Orr.
O'Dea coming back would be nice. He was definitely a serviceable MLS defender and could also cover on the left side, where we currently have a vast, gaping black hole.
Toronto FC baby...best team everrrrrrrrrr -Jozy
O'Dea is actually quite good technically for a CB. He could distribute well from the back if coached properly (when he was here under Mariner it was just constant long balls... at least his were usually more accurate).
who is suppose to be morrows cover?
Orr cant be it, and ashton has been in the bad books for months
