MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

So midfield help on the way and lots of injuries.

I thought the new conditioning coach was a top guy?

That was my question to Kurt the other day. Did we bring in a bunch of crocks or did we crock them? Most of what we're hearing doesn't sound like impact injuries

Maybe we crocked them with strenuous programs they aren't able to keep up with enough, the level of athlete (not soccer player) in the english prem is incredibly high.

Barnsley just terminated Brek Shea's loan from Stoke early due to an incident with a fan. Perhaps a good loan option for TFC. I'm sure he's dying for playing time before the WC. Not sure if any MLS rules would get in the way though.

^^ If he came back to the MLS wouldn't Dallas have his rights? Or is it subject to the allocation order?

Anyhow, I doubt we could shoulder the salary. Or the hair.

    two factors here.

    1) He's a USMNT so he's MEANT to go through the allocation order (unless the purchasing team pays a transfer fee for him)
    2) Dallas SOLD him (and received a transfer fee for him)...thus they don't have his rights anymore.

haha was not trying to judge him based on how he looked.
Just seemed like Gilberto was more confused by his translation than the actual question in english.
Gilberto was confused and would finally be like 'ah ah yes'. Didn't come across as a translator by profession so Im curious as to who he is/whats his connection/etc.

I used to love Shea when he came to BMO. I remember one game where he ripped us apart, ran at the TFC defense over and over and looked like scoring every time he got on the ball. He scored a great goal that day too. He's got a lot of talent and is one of the best wide strikers I've seen in the MLS. He would certainly be a good signing, but this isn't goint to happen. He's still a Stoke player and I can see they still value him as an asset for now (otherwise they would have sold him instead of loaning him to Barnsley in the first place). I don't imagine he's going to come to the MLS on loan right now.

Let me state my prior Lil' Wayne comment was not meant to be a judgement on his looks....haha. I got the sense that Gilberto seemed confused as well....might be better off just having Cesar translate...lol

There was some chatter about this guy not being a good translator back when Gilberto was first introduced and at Press Day.

    Who is that guy?

Not sure who he is, but I notice he's been translating for Gilberto since media day. Maybe he's acting as a personal assistant as well.

We're not getting Brek Shea. Even if he were available I don't think we'd have cap space for him. Having said that, we had another domestic winger who killed it in the fog game - what happened to Issey Nakajima Farran?

hes not that bad of a translator. alot of the questions asked dont translate to portuguese perfectly/quickly.
I cant tell if "lil wayne" studied portuguese or is a brasilian native, to which it would be amazing how he has lost the portuguese accent completely. (hard to get rid of the R rolling).

I think a lot of people forget that he is an interpretor and not a translator. Translating won't do any thing particularly if reporters are using nuanced words like "anticipating" in english questions.
Also apparently he's an official liaison whatever that is

Also if you want to see bad interpreting/translating, go find Laba's first interview as a Whitecap. Poor dude was struggling just to find the words.

Based on his Instagram account, he's either a native Brasilian or a first generation who grew up here.

This exact same thing happened back in '08 (?) with John Carver; they brought in a premiership expert who after us went to work for Nike; suddenly, we had half the squad injured.

Might just be coincidence, or maybe there are assumptions about flexibility and joint strength being made that don't apply in N.A., because our players haven't been in top-notch conditioning programs since age 14. Who knows. Certainly interesting though.

From what I remember Rowaan is a decent writer, but how accurate is he? Really hoping this is true because he's exactly what we need right now. Well, a striker would be nice but I'll take any offense I can get at this point.

With Dike being out for the season, i'd take him in a heartbeat....he's very versatile too and would fit well on the wing.
