Funny that the usual haters are not around when our captain's 2023 salary is published. For the record, the man has taken 2, TWO paycuts to create some extra cap room to sign new players.

    1) He re-signed at a lower salary in 2020. That isn’t “accepting a pay cut”. That was market. It may well have been more than market.
    2) If he agreed to defer some of his 2023 salary to 2024, that could be a very minor pay cut (on tje order of 5% of 600K or similar, depending on the terms), and it helps us in 2023 … but would it consume cap space in future years?

Not a Bradley hater or a Bradley lover btw. Just stating what happened.

    O Captain! My Captain!

Supposedly… ‘in the (past) off-season’, therefore, half+ his salary!?

So we have an assistant GM that is currently assisting no GM.

I didn't even know Hernandez was still here.

Sounds like MB is investing a lot into his father’s success. It’s commendable but I can’t help but find that a little worrisome. Overzealousness could be a contributing factor to locker room issues. This could be a good intentions but bad outcome situation.

MB has shown nothing but a desire to win since he has got here. I don’t doubt for a second that he is the one guy who has given everything he has had. The joy he showed during that Charlotte game when it looked like the Italian move was going to work was indicative of the burden he has operated under while the club struggled. Not many guys would restructure their deals to help the club, whatever the motivation. I think the MB looker room thing is over blown-he navigated the Jozy situation which couldn’t have been easy and there is nothing now that suggests he doesn’t gel with the guys.

Aging sucks, it is clear that he is not the same player, but I don’t think anyone can question his desire to see TFC return to winning ways. I hope we get to see him lift another trophy.

Michael, it's time to retire with dignity and grace.

Do not be here for what is to come, step away from the team.

This is now a shooting war between the Italians, TFC management and MLS.

Do not damage your legacy by picking a side. You were a fantastic player, captain, and a great human being, lets make sure the fans continue to remember that.

Agreed. Unfortunately, if/when Bob Bradley is fired, I can't envision a scenario in which Michael Bradley will have a future with the organization in any capacity. It's a shame really.

At this point he would have to go away for a while before coming back. Like 5 years minimum but if coaching was his thing, he could go do his badges and work some lower leagues for a while.

I think for the next run we need a lot less Italy, USMNT, and Bradleys + anyone who worked under Bob.

He will take take the side that is best for the team, the one that will right the ship. Considering how long he has been hear and the ups, downs, peaks and valley's he has experienced I trust him more than anyone in the FO/staff etc. to give a voice, and try to get this back on track. "Oh Captain, My Captain" he it is it, his actions off the field right now can be much louder than anything he could do on it right now.

Been thinking about this for the last few weeks.

I'm not sure MB will come back as good as he was earlier this season, which was really not good enough for 2023 TFC.
Let him play out this season but then its time to retire.

Let em coach the U15's and see how he does in the academy first.

If he can't work with the organization because they let his Dad go, that's his problem - but I suspect he won't have that problem because he understands the nature of his Dad's position is based on results.

They got very lucky with Giovinco, who was a great MLS signing. That doesn't mean that you can pull any random Italian player out of your file (or TRFRMRKT) and expect them to do well in MLS, which is a very physical and physically demanding league, even if a less technical.

Back to topic, Michael Bradley I think will ultimately be a very good coach, but he needs a lot more experience at the USL/lower European leagues/Academy) level.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Michael's position/current status with/within the club? Untenable? Aready gone? Stays? Plays? Quickly, gracefully retires from TFC?

I can't see Michael Bradley staying after this.

Hiring his dad has been an unmitigated disaster.

He needs a proper send off. He has without a doubt been the best player TFC has had for this club.

Regardless of all this, he should get a proper standoff and ovation from the fans at end of this season.

I agree. But even leaving that aside, I don’t think there’s anything left in the tank. Unless he wants to accept a Cheyrou light role, it’s time to hang-em up.

i think MB was going to retire after this season regardless, this long term injury and seeing that he's doing his coaching badges likely confirms it.

They better not have Dunfield in charge until MB finishes getting his badges. That's all I have to say.

100% they need to be lining up interviews now.

european season is over, some decent managers will be available.

It would seem like absolute insanity if that's their plan. So, I guess it's quite likely to happen...

I don’t hold out much hope. But I wonder if the board turned to Manning and said “make the playoffs this year or your ass is finished”

If Dunfield sticks around, I’ll take it as Manning’s last stand before an epic off season clear out.

This would be a disaster. Whatever succession plan they have, Michaels name should be nowhere near it

My front office source, who is very close to all of this, terms the notion of us hiring Michael "an insane conspiracy theory."

Actually, it was the somewhat deflating and despiriting 'come on, man, you're smarter than listening to that insane bullshit.'

I sort of regret asking, as they probably found THAT level of dumb sort of insulting.
