    Default #14 in 2014

Again, I posted this on Twitter (@jmeisenh) without much traction. And this is a fun one so don't take it overly serious.

If (and this is a big if) Toronto FC win the MLS Cup in 2014, does DeRo retire? #14 in 2014!

There are two angles to this question. Not sure everybody knows but did you know that Wayne Gretzky retired in 1999? #99 retired in '99. He planned it that way if I'm not mistaken. At least I think I read that in a book way back when. And obviously I'm hoping for the same coincidence of DeRo's #14 in 2014.

Of course the second angle is that being from Toronto, is there anything left for him as a player? At that point he literally would have done it all. Wouldn't that be the story book ending we'd all want for any sports hero?

De Rosario has a second-year option on his contract, conditional.

Even if he doesn't meet the conditions for this season, I don't see him retiring. If anything, he'll hop over to Montreal or Chicago, who showed interest in him prior to the TFC deal.
