NYRB in for Xavi?
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

Columbus signed Michael Parkhurst after getting his rights from New England. Good signing. He'd have looked awesome beside Caldwell at CB

I still remember the goal he scored from the half line on the last day of Year One.
I had that same thought (mentioned it in another thread)...
Then found out Columbus sent the 4th overall pick, plus (reportedly) 100k allocation to NER for his rights.
Plus they signed him to a deal for over 300k!
Way too expensive for it to make sense for TFC - both the trade and the contract.

Interesting that apparently there are rumours that D.C. is shopping Silva around, though Steven Goff is saying they aren't accurate.

This looks like something we would have done pre-Leiweke mode.
No idea, but I hope so, just because I want to see this, in the inimitable words of the Telegraph's Barney Ronay describing a Clasico:
Every now and then Xavi's noble, hollow-eyed pouchy little face will appear looking completely out of place in all this sleek hyper-modernity, as if a beret-clad left-bank poet of the 1950s accidentally wandered into Spearmint Rhino after losing his spectacles.
“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
And the first big deal before the draft: Chicago sends Jalil Anibaba and the 8th pick to Seattle for Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Patrick Ianni, and the 13th pick.

Apparently Vancouver has been awarded a $2.2 Million transfer fee for Camillo from Queretaro , Garber said at the draft.
Ouch. That's probably more than they would've paid if they'd just made an offer.

Kurtis Larson @KurtLarSUN 1h #WhitecapsFC 7th overall pick Andre Lewis signs pro deal with New York Cosmos: http://www.goal.com/en-ca/news/4175/major-league-soccer/2014/01/17/4551561/first-round-mls-draft-pick-lewis-signs-with-cosmos?ICID=HP_BN_1 …
So it looks like the Whitecaps have lost their top draft pick...
Damn, JUST when you thought the week couldn't get any better!
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
Vancouver(Lenaducci) is another Toronto(Johnson ) a.k.a.2007/10.
Feel for Carl Robinson!
The player himself has come out and debunked the Cosmos deal.
@whitecapsFC I'm excited about my future at the whitecaps FC, looking forward to meeting all the supporters soon.

Robbo on recent Caps shenanigans. He sounds really smart and honest. I feel bad for him the shitty situation he's in.

Well I wouldn't go that far, confusion still reigns. Apparently, he is under contract with the cosmos but will be loaned to Vancouver for the upcoming season. Lot's of speculation surrounding this and unfortunately, VWFC is again caught off guard while players/agents test the confines of MLS contract rules & negotiation. Couple of points out of this:
1. Ives speculating he signed with the cosmos because the league didn't offer (or couldn't offer) a guaranteed contract. This way, he gets the guaranteed money of the NASL deal, while still being able to play in MLS.
2. It is not clear what MLS / Vanoucer actually knew at draft time. It appears the situation wasn't as in control as they thought it was. As with the Camilo deal, they'd like to have this one swept well under the rug rather than look weak in the face of player / agent negotiation tactics.
3. Cosmos starting to make noise and being a real pain in MLS's ass. Yet to be seen if anyone else will join them, but the waring league theme of north american soccer might not be entirely dead yet.

Anyone have any updates on Freddy Montero?
Will Seattle haev to sell him after such a great start to the season in Portugal?
Last I heard they were offering 2.5M euros.
You'd think they would offer more for the leading scorer in the league.
This cant be good for MLS to lose its best players
