Great love does not exist without joy and without great suffering ,that's why One club is worth only as much as its fans !

“What we had in pre-season was probably the worst put-together squad in the history of the league,” the former New Zealand international said in looking back at the start of his managerial tenure with the underachieving club.
“In the history of the league. It was that bad. It was actually terminal.”
    Two observations:

    1. Much "thanks" needs to be given to Paul Mariner for his "adept" handling of the roster prior to being fired. [sarcasm alert!!!! ]

    2. Why didn't Nelsen tell the truth during the season? I know TFC needs to sell tickets, but that talk last season of trying to make the playoffs (which was total rubbish) just damaged his credibility with fans.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

I think its the 'new guy on the job' syndrome.

    Are things bad? Yes
Should you point that out? Maybe no - because if you do, you run the risk of laying blame on the people before you with no ability to demonstrate the fixes to ensure that you can do the job. If we review the information we have about what actually went on this year - another new head coach, 0 experience being pulled out of a job playing at QPR and merging him with a known guy but not worked with in Payne.

Then from the articles by Armen interviewing players we can see that the relationship was VERY damaged between Nelsen and Payne - new CEO and winning a battle of favour that must have been slanted in my mind for Payne to win - but against all odds he wins that war.

Now he has a new GM that seems to know the league but also leverages Nelsens connections pretty well. It puts Nelsen in a pretty comfortable place right now, a CEO that publically backed him and knows what knd of 'brand' damage has been done with the revolving door, a GM that values his contacts and actually works with vs. competes against in the boardroom for team decisions.

I can only guess that all this results in Nelsen being able to speak more to the heart of issues on retrospect. Right now they are putting the sheets together on what the team will look like for 2014 and that alone must make him think - 2013 was an utter mess from all standpoints.

Prsonally I don't know if Nelsen is the guy but there is another part of me that just wants stability.

What was he supposed to be a pessimist? That's not really his character though don't you think? I'd rather he said he tried and failed than just give up completely.
