Too early to call Bloom bench depth. He performed pretty well last year. But it sure wouldn't hurt to have a "can't miss" player in that position. I assume as a primarily defensive player Jackson is an option; Eric Miller is the best prospect apparently, but he's not ready to step in and start, which puts him older and further back than our two existing options (Three? is Richter still with TFC?).
There were so few decent fullbacks available at the combine, they had players out of position in five of eight slots.
Venter seems a possibility. He recovered from an ankle injury and was one of the talks of the combine for his aerial presence and backline leadership.
I'm betting we draft Akindele with the first pick, though. Although he's an unknown, if you look at his profile story on mlssoccer.com., he was heavily, heavily wooed by clubs in MLS academies for several years, and by bigger schools in division one, but turned them down to get an electrical engineering degree. And he can allegedly cross a ball while also beating guys on the dribble, so wide might be a good role for him.
