TFC is signing (on loan) the starting goalkeeper for the Brazilian national team.

I'm saying that again just because it feels soooooo goooood.

I wonder how long the loan is. Just until the World Cup? All year?

What an off-season it's been. If I wasn't seeing it for myself I wouldn't believe it.

European transfer windows are closed. His options were limited at this point. Nelsen connection with QPR helps.

I'm assuming it's just until the World Cup. No doubt he'll be getting all kinds of offers after. Only reason we're even an option is because he didn't move during the transfer window, which frankly was a bit of a shocker.

Teams we play March-May (league): Seattle, DCU, RSL, Columbus, Colorado, FCD, NER, Vancouver, RBNY and SKC.

Players probably report to pre-WC camps 2nd or 3rd wk of May so RBNY on 5/17 and SKC on 5/23 are iffy. Can't see him being around still for our home Columbus game on 5/31.

    Two words: Ryan Nelsen.

For whatever reason, no one wanted him during the transfer window. Or perhaps he was wanted but no one was prepared to pay a substantial chunk of his salary. QPR does a favour to JC and to old-boy Ryan and we get him for a snip.

Jackson and Gilberto weren't at training camp until yesterday due to "visa issues". Haha I bet they were trying to lure Julio Cesar to come to Toronto.

Do you remember when Nick Soolsma and TFC parted ways mutually, it wasn't a buy out

That's what I thought. I think that option is for the expensive guys moreso or guys with no options coming after the buyout. Elmer probably landed work on another 2nd tier Swiss club.

If TFC somehow manages to keep Laba we may have the best Starting 11 in MLS history.

I think not getting Dempsey was the single smartest decision Toronto made, and laid the groundwork for all this coming together - that plus World Cup eligible players needing to play. We should thank the World Cup too!

Honestly, I can't even comprehend this - our team fielding possibly 3 players in the World Cup, and the only American is probably their best player... This would be incredible

We've been the smartest of all the MLS teams. Knowing it's a World Cup year and players want minutes to prove themselves, we've snatched great players that were out of favour with their clubs. Some with good dosh but in Cesar's case, for basically nothing.

I don't have the draw in front of me, but I would believe it's possible for TFC to have two players playing in a WORLD CUP FINAL.

edit - Sorry, Italy will of course be one of the finalists, so only one then.

Really better make the most of this season. These opportunities don't come around very often. We had a perfect storm for a lot of these signings to happen.

Or we swap spots with Seattle for a whole whack of allocation money.

But with all the other teams in the league knowing that we need allocation money to pay down his salary, why would they help us? We'd essentially need to overpay for allocation at this point.

Well that sucks, but short of MLS changing the rules, somewhat inevitable I guess. Now just have to find a good loan option for him.
