Guys like Valeri and Javier Morales aren't pikers; these guys did time at top Argentine Div 1 clubs before MLS.
Sure the guys making the most money in MLS could hang with a championship team. But you're forgetting that guys like Valeri and Morales are the stars of their team. You fill out two thirds of a team with your typical MLS squad journeymen and the average talent on the team is way below the second tier in England.

Right now the league has stated their priority is sustainable growth - aka - putting out a mediocre product that won't upset the small markets. Until this this mentality is done away with (rightly or wrongly so) we shouldn't be comparing or expecting the league to perform like ones with a $450-500k average salary.

Yes, but I'm wondering why that is? Why have all the other sports developed coaching traditions but soccer never did? I imagine it's complex and not down to one or two things, so I don't expect an answer, but I wonder if it's changing vert quickly.

And I disagree about sports like Skiing and track and field, they're very close to the other sports when it comes to coaching traditions and involve a lot more than the Olympics.

Got an e-mail yesterday SSH relocation event weekend of November 29 must rsvp by the 22nd, don't have to pay til January.

Given that I'd rather not have TFC go on and on about their transfer targets, I'll take some radio silence as prudence.

    Andrew Boyens also.

Bright Dike would be the first TFC active roster player to go, if he is called, and if he is still here.

I'll be surprized if he isn't. Apart from being a useful player, he seems to have a positive attitude, which is not unimportant for a team looking to build a winning culture. Did you see the comment from the Timbers fan following that news item? Something to the effect that "wish you were still here." A good sign.

Don't disagree with your view of Dike. My point is about Nelsen's awkward status, the likelihood that he will get canned either before next season or early on, and yet another new guy turns over the roster. All of that could easily happen by June.

What has been the average tenure of a useful player here?

About the same length as our average coach.

My watch list of players worth signing from South America and lower leagues elsewhere now has about 100 names on it; one of them is playing against Canada this week, Roman Bezjak. He's a consistent scorer playing in Bulgaria but nationally capped for Slovenia. I doubt Bulgaria money is out of MLS' reach.

    Counts as 1.5

Andy Boyens wasn't playing for us so that's .5

I think you're right. Following in the footsteps of Randy Samuel, 1986 WC, but never with TFC, of course. Wonder if they're related?

"Sophomore Jay Chapman (4g, 1a), who missed three games last year due to injury, also returns to add pop to the attack either up-top or in the midfield. Chapman was a 2012 Third Team All-Freshman selection by College Soccer News and was named to the All-Big Ten All-Freshman team."

Probably should scratch Eto'o coming in Jan. Cameroon going to WC.

For overseas rumours maybe, but it's weird that there would be a rumour with a random ex-TFC academy player playing in NCAA. I'd be more skeptical if it was someone like Jordan Hamilton.

Lets not get Klose. One of my favorite players to don a Bremen and a German Nat Jersey but he is old and oft injured and hence not worth the look. Hurts me to say that.

Dike just scored a nice header for Nigeria against Italy! Great for him.
