File this under obvious. Supposedly $25 million in licensing fee and then he has to secure the funds to build a team. For what he will pay for in the end he should of just gone for the sure thing in TFC

Being reported by the BBC now:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24737606

...Any deal has yet to be finalised but 12 potential investor groups from around the world are said to have made contact with the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder, who retired in may after making 10 appearances for his final club Paris St-Germain...

Given the way the franchise fee has risen, he was always going to be able to make money out of this.

David Beckham's Miami MLS bid will help revival of Florida soccer

BBC column by Richard Fleming - Colorado Rapids director of broadcasting

Beckham's link with Miami was on the lips of MLS commissioner Don Garber back in July. It was then reported in August that Mr and Mrs B were in the market to purchase the Versace mansion in the South Beach area of Miami, originally valued at $125m (£78m).
The rumour mill has been turning ever since, but this most recent announcement appears to confirm what many had known for months.

Becks group continues to eye up potential stadium sites.

This latest one reported makes a ton of sense. Port of Miami, southwest portion of the island that is already slated for redevelopment. Lots of parking, and parking garages, nearby as well as transit. Steps from the cruiseliners - site is actually adjacent Royal Caribbean's HQ. It's also very close to American Airlines Arena.

    And the view is amazing.

^ Gotta admit, that skyline would look kick-ass during an evening match. Though the space does look kinda tight.

I really don't know what to say about this. We've already had the Fusion and Mutiny come and go, I just don't have a lot of confidence that the state can support one team, let alone two.

Too bad it's a hurricane prone area.
1 bad hurricane (like Katrina) could really create problems.

All the money and star power in the world can't help that market.

For Christ's sake they were leaving the NBA championship early. What is a middling MLS team going to bring?

The new corporate entity registered is Miami Beckham United. I'd put my money on Miami United.

Miami United? As MLS team names go, that's not too bad at all. But man, is this really a soccer town?

Miami-Dade County has agreed to negotiate with Beckham's group - who have made it clear the stadium will be 100% privately financed.

Did white smoke come out of the chimney at his mansion, to let the press know a decision was made?

No. Simon Fuller insisted it be a Beckham-brand product.

    Neighbourhood never smelled better.

Wait a minute! Does this mean...

Kidding aside, I'm glad someone took a stand against these multi-millionaire team owners and entertainment corporations using tax dollars to fund their own little palaces.
