don't you hate it when one story contradicts aother and you don't know which is getting the short end of the stick. here weare loving the hate for obrien for not liking our city, and it turns out to maybe not being true. leaving for a medical reason certainly sounds alot different than i hate toronto.

When did O'Brien ever say anything about the city? By all accounts and interviews he was one of the most upbeat guys last season. The most telling part of this latest article today for me was the fact that an actual doctor told him to stay off of it. Like I have said before, you can launch all of the studies that you want into the safety of playing on the stuff and talk about generation (insert number here) and call them a bunch of pussies, but the bottom line is two-fold:
1. Players who play and train on it complain that it takes a lot longer to recover from training on fieldturf than grass.
2. Those complaints build the perception that it is less safe in some way so if people have to option to play here or somewhere else on grass, they will pick somewhere else...
Which brings us back to Ronnie, who in his opinion had the option of playing in a great atmosphere in front of the best fans... or prolong his career by playing somewhere else on a more forgiving surface. We can call it an excuse all we want but I for one think Ronnie was a little gutted by the decision to leave. Given playing here vs. a shortened career though.. I dont blame the guy.

With Field Turf:
The only thing that matters (like with anything) is the way it's perceived and it's perceived as a joke by anyone we would actually really like to play here. So because of this, it must be changed or we will NEVER have a club that's taken seriously period.

honestly, its my hope that Henry or somebody of similar stature just comes out and says 'i would come and play for toronto in a sec and lead them to outragous success if you didn't play on a plastic shag carpet.'
and i agree with Flush, and wish it wasn't to late to change the goal of the protest (especially since i find myself not really understanding the need for the Argo protest right now and feeling guilty about the break in solidarity, whether or not i'm a paying member of RPB, or any other supporter group)
