New downtown LA stadium, maybe even a third franchise
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...ll-it-sideline
No way LA gets a third franchise. I believe this is the first stage of posturing to finally get Chivas (or whatever they're called 4 years from now) a new home - independent of the Galaxy.
Thoughts?

The article states, "but still close enough to keep their current fanbase turning out."
I suppose they could hire a mini-van...

I think it makes sense. People have been asking for a east LA team for some time, downtown LA actually makes even more sense.
HDC has limitations that hurt. They aren't allowed to use the full stadium capacity on weeknights. Plus two teams in the same area saturates the market.
Transportation issues being what they are in that area of the world and with the large population it can be a hit IMO.

Getting down to HDC is a nightmare. If you're near Hollywood or Santa Monica, it's either 4+ hours on public transit which includes transfers in some of the sketchiest neighborhood on the west coast, or a $90 cab ride. Thank god TFC Buffalo gave me a ride back up town... stand up guy.

Freedman has some interesting suggestions for Chivas, including a stadium move when their lease with StubHub Center expires after 2014.
