Bendik is a f-ing stud. Other than his wacky kicks, he's been flawless all season.

We've been pretty lucky over the years with our keepers. Imagine if we had the same trouble there as we do in other areas... holy crap.

So true! Honestly, this is something absolutely down right odd when you think of how bad are team has been...

We've never really been in the situation of 10-guys playing well together, and the keeper letting them down. In fact, our keepers have usually out-preformed the other 10-guys on the pitch...

Sometimes that's a side-effect of a bad team (keeper looks great b/c he's pelted with shots & not faulted on goals against), but I agree that we have been pretty damn lucky with our keepers over the years...

    SSG... I'm in love!
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

Agreed. Our keepers have never been bad but I totally think that the sorry state of the 10 guys in front of them have helped them to shine. I was a keeper in a previous life lol and I can tell you that I always looked at my best when the team in front of me was bad. When you have a good team in front of you it makes it much harder to show that you're capable.

Lots of shots=lots of save opportunities. Also, we keepers are notorious for making routine saves look uber important. LOL

There's a reason that it seems so easy for all our goalies to push out the previous "#1". All they need is a chance and they need not to fuck up terribly. Sometimes even when they do (see Kocic rolling over the ball to gift a guy a goal) all it takes is another couple decent saves to make people forget. And with TFC, those couple of saves can come 2-3 minutes after your mistake. LOL

Nothing is worse than when your team plays great in front of you, they give up one-chance all game - and it's a picture perfect shot to the corner that nobody could save..... At the end of the game, everyone is thinking 1-shot = 1-goal and us as keepers feel like shit! LOL

Based on what I've seen since Nelsen took over, I say it'll be Queen's Park Rangers Football Club. What's that... 29 letters ? That's a fairly 'big name", yeah ?

Other than Barcelona or Man U....not interested on see us embarrassed by another international. We cant even beat the mexicans. Lets concentrate resources in other things, like a DP!!

This is strange and depressing. I'm not some huge fan of Califf's but his treatment seems suspect. Let the guy go on with his career if you have no intention of playing a 33 year old guy. Now the guy is at home for personal reasons?

"He's in our plans" vs. "There are some young players we want to see play".

Gimme a break. Dress and play him or let him go.

Something isn't right about this. Good on John Molinaro for keeping it in the news.

Yup. Once again the terrible man management by TFC is rearing its ugly head. They ought to release or trade him already, nothing good will come out of this situation. You don't think he isn't going to be telling people to not come here? Veteran player with experience, getting treated this way is not good for bringing other Americans to this club.

they probably cant find takers for him so they say publicly they dont want to trade him. Why cut him when you dont get any cap space back

I'm sure a player like him on our team at the moment can contribute in some way.

    I agree.

First of all, he was selected by Payne for a reason. Why take a guy and pump his tires and then not play him?

Secondly, we're awful. We have Darren O'Dea playing LB for fucks sake. Caldwell is solid but can anyone tell me that our back line is so solid and that Boss and Henry are so much better than Califf in all situations that he doesn't even garner a sniff?

There's no way. Something else is happening here and I hope it's just a case where Payne thought he'd be useful and Nelsen doesn't rate him.

If that's the case then I can't argue too much. Coach plays who he wants. But if coach continues to insist that Boss is so much better than Califf that Califf doesn't even dress AND Boss continues to be up and down...well, then that's on Nelsen.

If, on the other hand, it's Payne having buyers remorse....well then he looks like a fool on this one.

He'll get his time. We have Gold Cup away duty this summer. Henry and Morgan are called-up. So we only have O'Dea, Caldwell, Boss, Califf

Yeah that's the only reason I can see keeping him. The eventual lack of players we will have because of the Gold Cup. Now if something doesn't happen with him and he doesn't play during that stretch, it's just another example of pour man management by this team again.

No thank you but if you make it optional to go like Liverpool at least I don't pay for it. It's just the team that suffers.

Caldwell made the team of the week 16

DF: Steven Caldwell (Toronto FC) – The veteran Scotsman held his own as TFC claimed a much-needed 2-1 win at D.C. United on Saturday. He was solid defensively, delivered the free kick for Robert Earnshaw's equalizer and was up there helping apply pressure on the own goal that won the game for the Reds.

Good. For me, he was CLOSE behind Laba for MOTM. Every game has been good for him - can't say I've seen him make a mistake yet.
