Good to see Hell get some props after his rocky start. . .
Any experts here care to guess why we conceed in the final moments?
Any coaches have any tips for our boys in red?
Its more than a trend, its now a dependable, plotaable result.
what the fuck gives?
NOTICE: Wager with STB: OVER 2 shots on goal in the First half wins a Pint at HT.
Team is unwilling to take risks in possession in midfield and push forward, resulting in the 11 dropping back in defense and hoping to ride the storm. In the final minutes, Toronto need to distribute the ball amongst themselves and keep pushing forward slowly, making the other team retreat backwards. Then, even if you lose possession, you have some more room to recover.
It's fighting the urge to defend, and attacking instead that stems the tide but Toronto are so worried, they retreat and aren't willing to risk the ball in midfield. When the goalie gets the ball back, the instinct is to kick it up the field but the best course of action is passing to a fullback and then moving the ball into the central midfielders. Maintain possession and make the other team chase you. Otherwise, you are gifting them a minimum of five chances on goal by giving away possession and hoping to defend against them.
^ it's because we spend the first 80 minutes trying to score goals and the last 10 trying to prevent them.

TFC simply stops trying to maintain possession when defending a lead late in games. It's absolutely maddening to watch our players on the defensive in those situations routinely commit turnovers time and time again.
Unfortunately, this team has absolutely no idea how to grasp the concept of killing the clock. Despite the shortcomings of our roster, that has been the difference between occupying a playoff spot in the standings and being the laughing stock of the league, again.
They're not just committing turnovers. They're CHOOSING to give the ball away by hoofing it up field when faced with a tiny bit of pressure.
It's a philosophy issue. A mentality issue.
A team that doesn't value possession for the first 75 minutes of a game can't be expected to keep possession in the last 15.
It's so simple. Play keep away until you're under REAL pressure. Then you can waste the ball.
A lot of times, when it's done right, you open up and overextend the opposition because they're getting desperate to score.
That should lead to more chances for us.
Instead we have a mentality where we say "come at us, we have personality...we can handle it"
Except that we don't and we can't. Rather than focus on how to keep the lead our coach decides to create a feel good story.
What value (to actually winning the game) did bringing in koev bring?
It's inexperience and stupidity at its finest. Rather than make it about holding the lead, he made it about giving Danny a 5 minute run after replacing a guy who only played 25 minutes.
That stupid k

That stupid move, combined with having played a good game as a whole, made it so hard to swallow.
Very good points, I would also add the lack of skill on the part of the team as a whole, there is no real experienced veteran leader on the field, we have to seek out that experienced midfielder who can marshall the game, then add more peices to the puzzle, It does TFC no good to sign a Kaka or such if the rest of the team are not skilled enough. I would not expect Kaka or such to be an effective marshall on the field, tha is what is really missing, in my opinion. I really like what I saw from Laba and Osorio, and the majority of the game.
Yes the Koev's substitiution was a feel good moment that should not have happened, but with all the hyperboil that the media and supporters created it was inevitable.

If anything TFC needs to ditch the flat 4-4-2 in the 60-90th minute, and go with a better counter attacking option like a 4-3-1-2 or go with a diamond shape 4-4-2. Regardless of the tired bodies on the field they should never substitute, Laba or Silva.
