Not Toronto FC related but i'm posting it here anyways....

Gennaro Gattuso has been hired as coach of Palermo.
Similiar to Ryan Nelsen he's a player at the end of his career turned coach. Only difference is he's already failed once. Thought it was comparable!

How can we blame ML$E for this?
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Well, I would have personallly preferred Gattuso to Frings. Both would have played infront of the centreback pairing, both at the end of there careers, both would have contributed for about a year and a half. Except Frings is strong, quiet, knows what he's doing and does his job, and Gattuso is a tough old bastard and would have been laying into our entire squad.

I prefer passion you can see on the pitch, see dunfield.

I think it's a stupid move on Palermo's part but the ONLY similarity between this and the Nelsen situation is that they're both former players. And even that isn't quite a good comparison because Nelsen wasn't a former player when we hired him. He was a current player. LOL We actually had to wait for him to stop playing.

As for Gattuso and Palermo...meh...a relegated Italian team from Sicily went out and hired a "coach" from southern Italy. I'm not even sure if this move has anything to do with improving the product on the pitch.

    Stupid move by Palermo imo
