MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Both the expansion and the Cosmos questions were questions I asked.
Garber originally said 2-4 weeks but then he was corrected by Dan Courtemanche that it would be 6 weeks so look for it after 4 weeks, most likely.
As for the Cosmos, Garber said no, but it does sound like it will be a second new york team, just under their own brand.
Can somebody explain what's going on with the NASL to me? On their site they list 12 club crests but there are only 7 teams in the standings

The cosmos have only 10 players (including 3 former TFC) listed on their wiki page (I know, not reliable) and yet the organization was resurrected almost 3 years ago.
the NASL site has the crests for future teams as well.

I'm betting on a 2nd NY team.
where is NY2 going to play?
for some reason I thought Flushing was mentioned?

How upset would Orlando be if they just got the go ahead and the cash for a new stadium only to be pipped by a NY club with zero current supporters and no place to play. It isn't even as though there has been discussion recently about where NY2 would play, it would really be out of the blue.
I got it New York City Blues SC.
Orlando won't be far behind. I don't think it's going to take that long for us to reach 24 clubs (which is my guess for their optimal league size, home/away vs conference (22) and once vs other conference (alternating home/away each season) (12)...34 games)

But where would they put the teams? Assuming that NY2 is a given at some point, and that Orlando is going to get the nod in a few weeks, they would need a twelfth team in the Georgia/Carolinas area to provide teams up and down the east coast. Houston could then go back to the Western Conference and the West could add a team to Phoenix/Las Vegas/San Antonio in the Southwest and a team in the Dakotas/Minnesota area to provide the needed market saturation they desire.
Man City owners interested in NY2?

Hmmmm, all the signs I'm seeing all point to a second New York team, but with the Red Bulls still only averaging around 17,000 a game, is that a sort of market a new owner believes will support another team?
All said, I do like the fact that it won't be the Cosmos and will squeeze that team out even more, which is great in my opinion, because it's still a cardboard club in my eyes.

Citeh owner to bid for NYC team? And expansion fee rumoured at 100 mil. Jeez

In 2009, it was a major pain in the ass getting from my hotel in Long Island City to Giants Stadium. I've seen some stuff saying this new team will be in Flushing, that's about 30 miles from Harrison, and triple the distance that I had to travel. From what I know of people in NYC, Harrison and Flushing are 2 very sperate markets.
Can they just move Chivas to NYC?
CUSA might be in play, just not right now. Bazillionaire Carlos Slim is in negotiations to buy CD Guadalajara (incl Chivas USA). Current owner Jorge Vergara wants an insane amount for the CUSA piece, $100 million. I would not be surprised if Slim tries to remove that from the deal or if he talks down the price, to turn around and try to cash it out.

Charitably, they feel they have marquee value and can elevate NASL to be a top league aside (while officially below) MLS. Uncharitably, they believe their own hype and think they will attract all the soccer folk who reject RB (and presumably whoever NYCFC is) and therefore don't need MLS and all their stupid rulez.
