what has happened to Silva, he was poor again tonight. He is a player who I posted about last season who I wanted in the team but recently he has been horrible. Maybe I am too hard on him but I want to see his potential being realised and right now IMO it is not. We are really lacking creativity in centre mid
On the bright side, maybe the Leafs will reach the playoffs tonight.
I agree with a team like ours if we h e a lead we gotta press on we jut are not good enough to hold a 1-0 lead
Nelsen looked rather pissed.
Damn he was pretty fired up. Stark contrast compared to his other post-game interviews. I like seeing it though.
Well, I know it was a disappointing end, but I have a different view. Compared to previous years and specifically last year we are a much better team. We dominated Houston the whole game. We dominated the statistics and the play. We hit one post, one cross bar and there was a great save by the Houston goalie or we win 4-0. The top 4 teams in the league are Houston, KC, LA Galaxy, and Dallas. We have one win and 3 ties. Could have had an extra win today.
Our ball movement and passing today through the midfield was much improved. Heck we got a goal from the midfield, Hall of all people. I frankly cannot understand the comment about Silva. He started slow but improved with every minute, was strong at both ends of the field, best game of the season. I have a very different feeling about the club this year. In the past the club was run by a bunch of clowns. TFC is. Professional club, well managed and well coached.
The depth of the squad is much improved. Richter and Emory as fill ins both played well and the defense did not miss a beat. Really, really like the play of O'Dea this season. A lot were concerned about the corner he gave up at the end but there were 3 mistakes. Henry made a terrible pass right in the middle to Houston, then the ball to the corner miss headed by Richter backward and then no one gave any support to O'Dea for a relief pass when he was under pressure.
The club is headed in the right direction, they are improving and I am optimistic about the future.
We need to learn recognise critical moments of the game and raise the focus and intensity.

getting a bit tired with all the comparisons to last seasons 0 pts. after 9 games. the truth is that many of those games with Winter were close and could have ended as ties.
The fact remains that unlike hockey a tie wont keep you in the standings for too long. At this point TFC is 4th from last in the standings. one loss and we could potentially be in last place as early as next week
There may be those who think I am bathing in the kool aid, but I felt better after watching the Coach Nelsen press conference. He is a decent man, he stands up for his team. When he says "gutted" I believe him. This is a team heading in the right direction, but he does not take the lurches, the failings and the need for growth lightly. He is a leader. I too was gutted at the end of the game. If his words and leadership has calmed me, imagine the impact on his players. The TFC future has never been brighter.
I disagree with you about Winter, the team was a mess last year and we were a minus 17 GD under him. This year only minus 1. That is progress.
Yes you are correct ties are not good in the soccer world. However, you can't win the league in the first 8-10 games but you can take yourself out of the race. We are in the pack, steadily adding points, and a win could put us in 4th place.

Some of you posters are DAFT!
What a great game - other than that "mistake" by Henry and O'Dea to finish the game - and to be honest I'd follow O'Dea in this league - he's a warrior - he can make a mistake and still be our man. This was a tremendous performance against a good team - we humbled them. We could of won by 2 or 3 ....and we played very well imo. Ok, fuck off, late goal sucks, but I support this team - not rip on them like some of you morons.
I was telling the lads - that compared to the dumb shits we've had running the team - MO, Carver, Cummins, Preki, Winter - we are so FUCKING far ahead now with Nelson...he has the respect of the team, he has the ability to play better than 99% of the back line in this league..the man knows enough about the game...reading some of the posters calling him out is so ridiculous.
Seriously ...get a grip - this is our leader - and he'll lead better than the others we've had. I'm seeing so much better football, and we're IMPROVING each game - just wait - we're going to grow leaps and bounds....stay on the bus, back away from the ledge.
At least we're consistent
Take a breather lol. Overall, most of us seem fairly content with Nelsen as far as I can tell. That being said, I wouldn't go as far as saying that Cummins was a "dumb shit." He was the only manager in our short history that actually gave us the slightest hope of a playoff bound team.
^^ agreed.
Well, I figured we would lose 3-1 or something painful, in reality we went out and outplayed Houston by a LOT.
Those trips were starting to really piss me off but you could see the frustration of the Houston players by how hot they were getting. (what does Ephraim say to piss people off so much?)
Anyway, I hate giving up 2 points as much as anyone, but what I saw was a quality product on the pitch. Not long balls with a 50/50 chance of getting to us, but quality football, crisp passes, smart play and good work.
Anyway, I had a great time, thanks again to Coach for the player escorts.
Watching Nelson's reaction "soothed" my anger/disappointment as well. Other coaches would have thrown their players under the bus (e.g. P UnderTheBus Mariner). Nelsen gracefully admitted the mistakes but countered with some convincing praise for Hall, Lambe, Braun. This guy is an amazing leader. I was all but ready to give up caring so much about this team after seeing them throw away the 2pts then promptly march off the field. I booed as hard as I could as the final whistle blew, then wondered to myself on aggravating drive home why continue to spend money at BMO field and why put myself through King st / Gardiner Hell. But Nelsen has me convinced they care and wont let this happen again.
I'm encouraged seeing the team leaders O'dea/Earnshaw jog over to their teammates to offer advice/encouragement. Contrast that to the other week when Blas Perez scores a huge goal and his teammates celebrated with themselves at center field. This group cares.
Just finished watching the Caps lose 2-0 at home to Dallas, they had no fight in them. TFC never gave up on a game this season.
Now the bad, Henry was a huge disappointment. If he had simply booted the ball down the field would have been game over. Instead he passed directly to the feet of a Houston player with no teammate within 10 yards. Richter made some nice moves to open up space for crosses but the cross delivery were absolutely awful!!! (except the one that looked bad but ended up a HAll goal). Same problem with crossing for Braun, who also made some really bad touches near the goal. But both these playesrs had many other positive moments so cant be too harsh on them.

As painful as this is, what are you going to do?
