    1 vote for Daryl.

When the ball was first blooped in his direction I thought "Twat"... but then Russell somehow manages to settle it and get a shot off before being closed down...which is when it smashes in off the post.

    That was crazy.

I'd say legitimately the best goal of the week, and I'm not just being a homer.

Russell was the only one that scored from outside the box. Although Maicon's goal was nice Russell's was 1 in a hundred thousand.

The other goals don't even come close, despite being nice. Russell's has that wow factor. Voted.

Timbers supporters stuffed the box for Ryan Johnson to win GOTW
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

At least pretty much every comment below the article acknowledges Russell's goal was better.

We deserve this. How many times did we stuff the box in years 1 and 2, resulting in many good players miss out in favour of our crappy team?

Even Timbers supporters are commenting on the final tally being a complete farce and acknowledging that Russell should have won, LOL...

I wouldn't mind as much if Johnson's goal wasn't so incredibly regular.

this is ridiculous, i dont even know how RJ's goal is up for GOTW. You know what, we all should stuff the box again, everytime TFC player is up for GOTW , im going to vote for it no matter how normal the goal is.

I think it's a farce that the league sends out e-mails encouraging fans to vote for "their team." I think I saw something on Facebook or Twitter yesterday saying, "TFC FANS! VOTE! IT'S CLOSE!" And I thought, not even, Russel's strike was amazing. Guess I was wrong. The league shouldn't have to encourage ballot stuffing, but should encourage fans to vote for the...wait for it...GOAL of the week.

    C'est la vie!

It's rather pathetic that MLS all but encourages the ballot box stuffing with articles like "will Daryl Russell hold onto the lead or will Ryan Johnson catch him?". It just illustrates that it's not even about which goal is best, but who has the most determined fan base.

For them it's all about hits.

I say the best response to this is not voting at all.

Well put Yohan...regardless of which of the goals was "voted" as GOTW, we all know Russell's blast was it. Deep down in our hearts.

I guess it's important if you care about how MLS appears to the rest of the world, since the Goal of the Year for MLS is based upon the GOTW winners. So far Timbers have 3 in contention this season.
