Klose would be great. If we can feed him the ball properly. I think keeping Rey Oso and Bobby would provide adequate delivery to the front for Klose.

That would be a dumb move, they didn't delay season ticket renewals so they could announce two players arriving when we already out of the playoff spot.

No, they want these players in January to showcase and sell tickets. Anything else and STR will be abysmal.

Guys... Lol... It's not Rooney. The man can get a deal in any club, and ManU probably got offers for him for way more than 26million

even a pre-contract agreement announced in Jan with a good player would be enough I think

I'm not a big fan of mid-season signings - especially if we look at where we've been at in July the past couple of seasons. We could be out of the play-offs by the time the two superstars arrive. Will seem pretty dumb by then. Same thing happened when Frings and Koevermans showed up.

Sign reinforcements in January or risk complete failure - that goes for all 3: Leiweke, Bez, Nelsen. No more excuses!

What do people think of the Adebayor rumour that was going around a few weeks ago when the board was down. Likely available in January. When Norwich aren't in the Premiership, Tottenham are the team I follow in the EPL, and I really hate Ade at Tottenham. Extremely frustrating player, and a head case to be sure. But, I actually think he'd be a very good MLS player. Can hold up the ball, is very difficult to take the ball off of. If it was based just on how he plays, I think he'd be an excellent MLS signing. His loonie-tuneness is another question.

Well when I read the article describing the account and its based on a nod when refling through names....dunno. Its stated that one Seria A player and one EPL both of which are playing in the world cup. Emmanuel Adebayor is playing for Togo who are not going to make it.

He's getting good minutes at Spurs, even started Sunday's train wreck for them. It's possible if they brought in another striker in January but otherwise I can't see it this year at least. Why do you think that?

32, and Spurs are absolutely loaded on talent

Rooney is the only player I can think of that is a TL like signing that is even remotely possible.

TL wants a household name and ML$E will sign that check for $50m for Rooney

Who else fits TL wish list?

    C. Ronaldo? I wish.

    Schweinsteiger? Well, maybe.

    Lewandowsky? Too young

    Muller, again, too young.

    Cavani just moved to psg

Xavi, actually could be, won't sell the shirts like Rooney though.

RVP, actually maybe in a few years.

Pirlo, call me crazy, but I could see him AND Rooney coming.
Fred, I would love that one.

Hulk, most underrated player today, after Brazil wins WC in 2014 he will be part of the discussion of 'who is the best in the world' anyway, it would be a coup to steal him before the World Cup.

Anyway, if I had to bet I would say Pirlo and Rooney.

If I had my choice, it would be Hulk and Fred.

MLSE may need to look for a few big names that will attract fans to the Dome if this big BMO Field renovation goes through. I know TL stated that TFC needs to stay on grass, and stay at BMO during renovations, but I am skeptical that is actually going to happen.

Wayne Rooney to anybody in MLS, not a chance, at least for a few yrs yet imo. He has just turned 28, and he has the all time goalscoring record for Utd in his sights. While that record is still realistically in his sights (I think he is around 40 goals behind Bobby Charlton), ie he has his fitness and is getting his time in side, he isn't leaving. That's an incredible record to have if he gets it and would really leave him a legacy at one of the worlds top clubs. I think he'd be foolish to leave that club within next 2-3 seasons.

Is there some way to hide any post that suggests/discusses TFC getting a player like Wayne Rooney?

I really find the frequency with which these kinds of "ideas" appears kind of destroys this thread.

Not up front, especially with Ade on his way out. He's got, what, five goals this year already? With Europa League they need players like him. Unless they pick up one or two strikers, won't happen this year.

To be fair to the OP, Torres is not nearly as unrealistic as Rooney who's been shamelessly mentioned a lot, and Torres would be a bargain in all seriousness. He'd leave a lot of mercenary money on the table if we really do have $50M and would be a better fit to MLS and TFC deficiencies imo. But it's not happening, I get it. I think he could end up in Germany I don't see many high profile opportunities for him in England or Spain... maybe Everton, Valencia or Villarreal at best.

What we all have to remember is that TL isn't going out there to get the best player for the money available, he's going out there to get 'the next Beckham", ie a player who will contribute on the pitch but perhaps even more importantly to him contribute off it with seat sales, shirt sales, media share, mainstream news headlines etc etc. Therefore, as brilliant as players like Chicarito, Hulk or even Klose would be, only people who are already football fans would know who they are. Your average hardcore CFL or MLB fan isn't going to turn to his chum at the water cooler one Monday morning and say "Hey, did you see that the TFC franchise just traded for Chicarito." If you listen to TL, for one of his DP signings he wants a massive name...a name that goes beyond football. There aren't many of those around. Messi and CRonaldo meet that criteria hands down...but those are beyond imagination. Rooney is probably close behind them...but that's equally as unrealistic. So who else is there? The other DP can be an awesome player well known to footie fans and/or a legend in their own community (ie Italian, Portuguese etc etc) and even be a better player than the first DP...but that first one has to be a name familiar to non-footie types and big enough to get non-footie types to BMO.

Not sure that player exists in the January transfer window.

Bez better have some pretty damn good within MLS trades up his sleeve for those season ticket holders deciding in January!
