I think with Payne the measure is "judge by what he does, not what he says."

He had a lot of players crap out in DC, but he also had some really good signings. The one constant was talking a bigger game than he could ever deliver.

As we can see within europe right now, signing players is always a challenge. Just look at the likes of arsenal, chelsea, man u, real madrid ect. I have confidence in payne that he has his targets and the price range.

Im sure he could of signed a "hassli like DP player" but that is not what he is looking for. And just to hit home how bad the hassli DP situation hurt us we lost the 1st round draft pick for this upcoming season and we had to cover part of his salary to FC dallas. (tho how much we will never truly know i guess)

It going to take a few more transfer windows to establish the team payne wants.

Lol I was just thinking of this the other day. Might get word of our next signing staring at the FIFA 13 screen with the way things are going

Lol, he's like the best player on our team in FIFA. Anyway one thing that is weird to me is that Nelsen and Payne have always been saying that we need to sort out salary cap issues and we bring in convey with a 290k cap hit

What about jermaine defoe?? Way down the depth chart at spurs and could be a dp. Yes, he is a midget, yet he's a good player

Although we can't be certain, most supporters on both sides of that trade agree that TFC was likely saddled with about half of the $200k cap hit.

He has definitely made those around him better, he is much needed experience and if we can have him back next year around $100-$120k I think he is worth it, think about it as $75k for his quantitative qualities and $25k for his qualitative qualities if that makes you feel better.

Jermaine Defoe will not be coming to MLS any time soon, if at all. Adebayor is on his way out, they need Defoe at least and ideally a better second option. Regardless, he has too much left to offer in the Premiership to leave, especially in a WC year as he still thinks he has a place in the England set up.

Speaking of England strikers, I proposed a certain Ricky Lambert as a Toronto DP when he was in League One and thoroughly underrated, and all of the pundits on here (most aren't here anymore, actually, they're demonstrating their genius on other boards) had such a good laugh.

We still need an attacking CM here. Hopefully one of DP's is an attacking mid. We need someone to lead this team up front (we're too young and inexperience up front).

And two days ago I resigned at TFC after winning two MLS Cups to take on the manager role at Nottingham Forest. EPL here we come!

    Seriously, I love this game.

You could probably add a few more pts to the overall. The ratings do come from Vancouver developers, they have been known to shaft a few of TFC's players in the ratings.

good lulz, considering Deco retired couple of days ago

Hard to say what's less funny, "Ron Berg" tweets or player sightings at BMO.

    He's not coming to TFC.

Spurs message boards are alight about him (on both sides of the argument), and if a team like that is in for him, TFC isn't an option.

Unless Kaka doesn't want to play in England.

second in the pecking order isn't exactly way down the depth chart. Also, his style is pretty much exactly the same as Earnshaw. He's just better at it. Not at all the kind of striker you want in MLS as a DP. An MLS DP striker needs to be able to create chances for himself and create chances for those around him.

Didn't Nelsen say that there will not be any DP signing this season? If Kaka will leave Madrid, it'll be to a team who's league's transfer window is still open.

Definitely. Urruti was one thing, but there's no way we could get away with a high profile buy from a high profile team outside our transfer window.

Wonder who is getting let go?

As far as Nelsen goes, can't say that I disagree with the decision. Not because I'm necessarily a huge fan of what he has done but I think until you put more talent on the field, judging the manager is always going to be premature.

They changed the rules for Beckham, they could change the rules for Kaka.

The 'Kaka rule' - any dp with a transfer fee over $5M may be signed outside the MLS transfer window.

Only applies if the player doesn't get his release first. Transfer window is for under contract players only. So if Real released him on a free, he'd be signabe at any time.
