I personally hope it's Forlan. Yes, he's getting old, but he'll turn 35 next May, so I see him signing a 2 year contract that would take him to 36. Let's be honest, the guy is an absolute beast up front. We could do worse. Sure, there may be better options out there, but at least he will strengthen the team immediately, and he'd bring a bit of fame with him as well. Can't hurt - especially after 7 years of absolute misery.

    We can offer that.

i have no interest in him, but it being Toronto, any Italian name wouldn't be a shock for the cash value.
That will be an interesting signing, but I think TFC is going after South American player. Forlan being obvious one (He probably more realistic one to sign with us based on history), but Kaka and Ronaldinho are available as well. Those names are bigger than Pirlo in Toronto.

I believe TFC will have 2 DP slots next season. So maybe we're working on two big signings (one in this winter while another in the summer).

But one thing is for sure: next season is going to be crazy.

I'm really hoping its somebody around the 30 - 31 mark so they could be here for 3 or 4 years, much like Becks.

Man, I laugh every time I think of what that guy tried to do. Has any other player pulled such a publicized (whether intentional or not) move like that?

I have no interest in this Prilo guy too, however, if your talking of the player Pirlo then yes it would be a great signing.

I think we may be looking at the wrong names... I'm thinking we will be bringing in more of the Maxi Moralez type DP now and then after WC2014 bringing in the "name" DP.

Zlatan would be a poor choice as he in no way fits how this team wants to play together. Nor is he what the team is trying to do marketing wise.

Plus his ego is so big, he won't play here.

This isn't FM where you just take a player and insert.

And I'm not sure Drogba, out on his own striker that he is, is what we need.

    Both great players.

But both are not fitting into the team as it currently sits.

He is professional as no other, all his former teammates and coaches said that, and that's why he is making stupid amounts of money.Find me a player that won so many trophies (19) with 6 different teams in 4 different leagues.
There is a no way he will ever come here, maybe at the age of 35/36 to retire and tear this league apart.

He just moves to the top team in each league who'll throw money at him.
There are a quite a few reports of his unprofessionalism and locker room disturbances.
Anyway I agree he wouldn't come here now anyway.

Throwing a possibility out there, this guy is one of the highest paid footballers in the world and is the soul of the #1 team in China (managed by Lippi) and tops in Asia. Name is Dario Conca, and contract is ending this year (and the Chinese league operates on the same windows as MLS) and highly expected to go back to Fluminese where he's revered. But has shown obviously that he's capable of going to "lesser" leagues for $$.

That's a good write up on him with a highlight reel as well. Still 30 so has a few more years in him, but he's a beast and hasn't been injury prone despite a reckless and physical league in China. Argentinian as well. Plenty of youtube highlights of his time in Fluminese and China.

I have never heard this guy before and he makes 14m . If MLSE want to spend 10m+ wages on a players its going to be a brand name, this guy is a total unknown.

Ya, even though he'd be amazing on the team and is a good fit for the league (the Chinese league is definitely one of the roughest, most physical leagues in the world), I don't think he's the type of player Liewieke would be looking for. He's all about the brand and I'd say the majority of soccer fans in Hong Kong, let alone Canada, have never heard of this guy.
