Our issue is that we have VERY little in the way of tradeable assets. Frei may have been good trade bait 18 months ago, but we would struggle to get more than a supplemental draft pick for him now!

Sounds like he already has interest from multiple clubs in the championship. Probably a better place for him than here with TFC.

I believe we have some stuff that's tradeable, but it will push people's limits in terms of what they are willing to do.

Bottom line should be that we're a bad team, and shouldn't have any sacred cows. If someone is willing to pay us more for Luis Silva than he's worth, then we should trade him. It's not an impossible proposition and it's not a matter of certainty that he's going to be great.

Better soccer and more money for him over there. To be honest I think Koevermans would play 1 more year and TFC would be nuts not to be interested. If Brockie can be pried from Wellington and the AM DP signed, things would be looking up.

Brockie is an unknown, buying him should not even be considered. Way to early to make that sort of decision.

Not really unknown, the A-League is nearly interchangeable with MLS and he was blowing it up this season despite his team. There's risk signing any player but everything points to him being a low-risk investment.

Still too early after about 20 minutes of game action and half a reserve match to go by especially when a transfer fee would need to be paid to have him here permanently. Let's see what he can do with a start before getting the Brockie talk going.

Sure, of course. The outlook is positive though. His transfer fee wouldn't even be a pinch to MLSE so as fans it shouldn't concern us.

Lets see him with some starts, and after a road trip. Frankly, a good judging time will be by July 20. 3 games in a week. KC, Chivas and then home to NYRB.

No, A League is not interchangeable with MLS. Brockie would probably end up being a DP, considering $400k transfer fee was refused by his previous club from a Chinese club few years ago.

Not necessarily. Transfer fees are often greater than 1 year market salary.

Still too early to talk about buying Brockie. Go watch that highlight reel of his and have a laugh at some of the adult rec league defending.

Speaking of this elusive DP AM, do we have anything to go on other than Payne's assurances that he's going to be the bestest ever?

Didn't he say one of the best in the league? If so, maybe it's Park Ji-Sung. THAT would improve our wide play a mite.

EDIT: Might be a former star like Pablo Aimar, too -- sitting on the bench at Benfica.

The agent for Massimo Ambrossini of Milan has said that there is interest from MLS for his client... could be all talk to get a new contract. Not sure he'd qualify as an AM but thought it was worth a mention.

Great player but not what we need. Not an attacking midfielder.

If his agent isn't lying, one billion-trillion dollars says it is Montreal.

Eric Lichaj has been released by Villa. If we want a proper back, look no further. Are we still atop the allocation order?

Still wouldn't be shocked if Lopez ends up here in July as a young DP.

Should still have the #1 pick ...

I doubt that Lichaj chooses to come over at this stage. A young EPL experienced free agent with EU status. Will have loads of Europe options offering much better contracts.

TFC is still on top: http://www.mlssoccer.com/allocation

Of course he might prefer to stay in England.

The MLS article said he's thinking of coming back, but yeah, it's hard to understand why. He should have options there.

As per Larson's twitter, Frei and Califf not travelling to NE this weekend and he's a bit suspicious. Nellie said Frei has a hamstring injury and Califf is sick again. Make of it what you will but considering these guys were already the logical trade bait names being thrown around in this forum, seems to be quite the coincidence.

It does look wierd....but I can't see Frei fetching anything in the MLS right now. Highish salary and has seen very limited play in a year and a half. He doesn't clear up an international spot and any deal we probably eat a large portion of salary.

FIFA window is closed and re opens July 9th. Internal league moves can be done right now, along with free pickups.
