Anyone know why the TFCA twitter account has become inactive? They had been doing well most of the season giving updates but have now completely stopped.
Quick update
TFCA needed to beat Caledon to stay in with a chance of winning the league. Thay played last week at Caledon and was 2-0 up cruising to victory when the lighting struck and game was abandoned :@(
They then played them at home (KIA) and lost to a penalty goal ??? No one within 100 km thought it was a pen, only the officials. (The Calendon striker stepped back and fell over our defender who laid injured in the area, ball had gone like 30 secs before) Game over !!
As for the team, Mannella took a hard hit in the 2-0 game and is out for a while, only 6 senior guys who started the season are still playing. Rest is made up of rising star jnrs. Tough few games though to throw them into.
Looks like TFC will finish second, not bad for the first try at OSL Premier Elite league. The boys done TFC proud this year.
Well Done !!!
Hamilton, Black and Roubos all starting for the Canadian against Austria at the U17 World Cup. All three looking good so far. I believe this will be on tv in Canada on Sportsnet World sometime this afternoon.
Sign up Hamilton now.
Hamilton is a monster, too bad a homegrown 18 year old forward in 2014 isn't in the plans for this management. Not like New England has had any success with that.
For his sake I hope he's in Europe soon.
Canada U17 drew with Iran 1-1
Hamilton (aka Henderson) scored with a Roubos assist.
Commentator kept calling him Henderson Lol
2 goals for Hamilton
1 goal and 1 assist for Roubos
Black with a couple strong games.
So far a some good showings from our boys.
very refreshing to see a competitive Canadian side
Good entertaining game to watch too.
Argentina next
Argentina 3 Canada 0
Argies were worthy winners of this one and look fav to go semis or even finalists.
On the feed I had the announcer said he thought pound for pound, Kevon Black was the best Canadian player at the tournament.
I would agree with that statement. He quietly got on with his job, a close second has got to be the Canada goalie tho, he had an amazing first two games.
It was always Guna be a big ask to beat Argentina, but they tried their best, and that's all we can ask of these boys. All the games were very entertaining and just go to show that young talent does exist in the Academies.
Defence, left back.
In my opinion, he (Kevon Black) was probably the best player on the team outside of Carducci. I watched 2 of the three games and he is miles ahead of Ashtone Morgan at that age. He has speed, positioning, is more balanced between his left and right foot and he can actually play out of the back to the midfield. He was a stark contrast to Jose Lopez who almost singlehandedly lost the game with his coverage against Austria.
For those looking to sign Jordan Hamilton.... I think you need to watch the games. He blows a lot of chances. He can hold the ball up with some certainty but he's not more impressive the Haber when he was that age. He needs time in college. I don't have faith that he will pan out to be something special. He is more of a target forward that gets the occasional goal. Not a prime goal scorer.
Hanson Boakai has great vision, great technique but he will be he will have to finish his chances if he wants to be an attacking mid. It's great to be able to pull the strings and make cutting passes but if you can't finish you can't stay in the role. In my estimation, he won't be a traditional central midfield with his size. I'm hoping he moves on and gets higher level training than FC Edmonton.
hamilton is a RJ9 clone
Boakai was very dissapointing to me in this tournament
I agree with this, he was a beast at the qualifiers, but no where as good in any of the last 3 games.
As for the Hamilton debate, well IMO it's hard to score when the other team won't give up the ball. Ham had one chance to make it 2-1 and the Argie goalie was just too fast out and at his feet. Not a miss, more a very good save. Otherwise yeh overall he scored 6, in Qualies and Finals, that's a great acheavment for any striker.
I was looking at it from a professional perspective. Projecting him as a professional. I did watch the Concacaf qualifiers. I did watch the U17 WC tournament. I understand he is the highest scorer. My opinion remains the same.
This happens every tournament mostly because TFC & Canada are starved for players. Very few of the players will go on to have successful professional careers even the biggest soccer nations in the world have this happen.
I don't believe Hamilton is the next great Canadian striker. I would like him to be. I'll leave it with a positive. He is great in the air. An absolute beast. That's his standout quality.
Yeah I agree with you here. I'd see Hamilton as something less than an out-and-out target which is how he was often used by Canada. He is way more versatile than Haber which is the comparison somebody threw out there. Moves off the ball a lot better as well, which is how he's getting a lot of these chances in the first place.
But you're right Kevon Black is probably the real revelation here. Considering the profile of a lot of MLS LB's he could see him ending up with the first team sometime in the near future.
Maybe TFC can employ Hamilton as a winger to get his career started.
