There was (perhaps still is) a Brazilian team called Ibis. They didn't win a match in 3 seasons. They became so bad, they even had supporters clubs in other countries.

We've embraced Danny's frustrated comment, but we don't take it seriously. There is more than a bit of hyperbole in calling TFC the worst team in the world. However, worst team in MLS is a documented fact, at least for 2013.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Toronto FC is bad. We have had 6 seasons where we have finnished at the bottom or near the bottom. But some teams have been relegated 3 divisions in a row and stuff like that. So i am sure we are not the worst. Also if we had relegation we probably would of got sent down 1 or 2 divisions and then been able to actually be a top team. Its pretty sad tho that we probably would need to be sent down a division or 2 to be a winning club, but its true!

RC Strasbourg. One of the premier teams in France over the last 100 years.

Ligue 1 in 2008, relegated 4 times in 4 years. Now an amateur team playing in a beautiful, historic 29,000 seat stadium. No professional team now within 100km of Strasbourg. It's destroyed their Academy, all their kids go elsewhere (especially Freiburg, 40 km away)

Not quite. They finished 4th in Ligue 2 in 2009 (barely missing promotion), were relegated in 2010, and 4th in the "third division" (National 1) of football in 2011, barely missing promotion back to Ligue 2. However, despite being the best remaining team in their division, they went bankrupt and forced down to the fifth level of football, which they won in 2012, being promoted up to National 2 (or whatever they call the leagues at the 4th tier these days) where they currently sit 3rd.

Certainly a sad story, but not as dramatic a downfall as Rangers (relegated 3 divisions last year because of bankruptcy). And not as many relegations (as opposed to bankruptcies) as Bradford City in the Premier League who were relegated 3 times in 7 season, and then hovered near the bottom of League 2. And then there's Newport County who were in Division 3 and relegated 2 years in row, and went bankrupt the next, and were dropped from the 5th tier all the way to the 9th tier (or was it 8th back then ...). But there's always hope. Newport is back up to the 5th tier, and in a promotion battle back to League 2. Rangers will be back, and look at Bradford City's recent League Cup success!

You'll be hard-pressed to find another side in a top flight league around the world with 9 straight defeats.

Strasbourg lost 11 in a row in Ligue Un the year they went down.

Didn't Sunderland lose 15 in the EPL at the end of 2002/2003? Not surprisinly they were relegated.

And even our 9 "straight defeats" had Champions League and Voyageurs cup points in the middle, including a draw to one of the best teams in Mexico, Vancouver, and Montreal, and a win over Montreal as well. I don't think 0-0-9 tells the whole story given that we were able to get points against the same teams or better in other competitions (including LA which immediately preceded the 0-0-9).

Do we need to go any further than Ryan Nelsen's current club? Didn't get their first win until week 17 this year.

Derby County only won 1 game during 2007-08 Premier League season but had enough draws to break up big losing streaks. They were bad - regardless of streak or no streak.

^That must be an old picture. For sure they had that going on for a long time, they were a big club, I think they rank 6th in alltime victories in the first division.

But I was there in August, and there is nothing like that going on now. Their announced attendance is 2,000, but it was more like 200 at the game I saw.

No TV or radio coverage either.

Everybody in Strasbourg has given up, or drives 45 minutes to Karlsruhe or Freiburg to see good games.

Tickets sold, or in the seats? Did you count the sponsors seats, do washroom checks as well as all the concessions?
