This is exactly the kind of statement that Cochrane is prone to making, and he never, ever gets it right.

Why wouldn't Plata get playing time in TFC's precious "environment"? What does that mean? If there's a personal issue, say so. If the player isn't in your plans, just say so.

Footy show podcast from today is worth a listen on itunes. Few things worth noting:

Mariner was actually on to Peralta before Payne showed up at the club. Technically his find.

The atmosphere under Mariner was described as "decisively old school". Sounds like he encouraged the players to go to the pub after the games

If it was anyone but Cochrane speaking those words, I'd agree with it. How much has it helped some of our younger players to stick with our senior team last year? Most of them didn't even make the bench and might have developed further going out on loan to other teams. Kocic had 20 games with the Serbian White Eagles in 2010, instead of sitting on the side as a 3rd goaltender behind Frei and Conway. Quillan was promoted and only played in the Liverpool friendly.

Burgos, Cordon, Stinson, Makubaya, Henry, Lindsay (if he was healthy enough). If you aren't going to play them, loan them out. Fill their spots with professional bench sitters and players you're taking a flyer on, but are willing to get paid the league minimum. USL/NASL journeyman who are just looking for a chance of making the step up.

^ That's actually pretty interesting in the context of TFC and their managerial change. Looks like MLSE is going to operate a little differently under Bogers than they did under Teachers.

MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
