Speaking of former players, for some reason I get updates on Pozuelo and I guess he got a goal yesterday too

So, the following, got me thinking… Aime Mabika aside, as well as, any fiscal feasibility, should TFC have had a second look at Mitch Taintor as depth?

Chris Armas ‘officially’ let go by Leeds and, viola, with his partner in crime, Marsch, are already engaged in some PR and networking in North America…

I hope Chicago hires Armas. They look like the type of team that would want a 300 page plan.

Is this real? Salcedo, Criscito, Pozuelo 'liking' TorontoFC's BB insta anouncement? Or fake?

FWIW, came across a recent article by Fernando S. Tavero featuring Pozuelo. My Spanish, reading comprehension is rusty, probably missed some of the key points. Following are the few details I found interesting and internet translated to share...

    https://as.com/futbol/internacional/...-que-tenias-n/

'(On TFC/MLSE/MLS) They treated me amazing. Those were incredible years.'

'I didn't expect to leave Toronto. We didn't really hit it off (Bob) Bradley and I.
He came in January and I played until June. We had no connection and he wanted changes.
That's how the opportunity came to me in Miami. It was an exchange, I kept the same contract and those six months I played there.
I didn't expect to leave, but the coach pushed a lot to bring in Bernardeschi and he had to free up that Designated Player spot.
It didn't hurt me, going to Miami was spectacular, although it wasn't my starting idea.'

'When I left it was also the winter market. In Toronto I signed in March, but we had been talking since January.
Genk did not want it to come out and that is why it was dilated. I had a clause of 8 million and two teams contacted me.
One from Arabia, we were about to go there, and the other, Toronto. We decided to go there.
It was a beautiful opportunity in economics and football.
If I had lasted until summer I could have stayed in Europe.
I had Premier options for the summer, but I didn't want to risk an injury or something.
I like to take advantage of opportunities when they come out. And if I go back, I would do the same.
It's been amazing. When you get out of there you realize what you had.'

'There are no stars there, not even Christ knows you there (laughs).
That's why the stars want to go there, no one bothers him.
Many times you go to dinner and you meet anyone, many celebrities.
I think that Messi also chose Miami for that reason, for the tranquility of the media world.
There are many celebrities like him, baseball players, Formula 1 drivers, tennis players... Famous people like him.'

''Yes, an amazing site. As I was saying, it brings a lot of peace of mind and I think that this has been key in Messi's decision.
Your family and your children will be able to go wherever they want without being bothered, without the paparazzi behind.
I think that's why he chose it.'

'Phew. I am very stubborn. I have always been advised against it.
I have a very strong character and I always say what I think.

With coaches, with teammates... And that has cost me more than one annoyance with a coach.
My dad always advised me not to get into those messes. But my character is strong.
Many times I should shut up
    .'

Interesting, IIUC, seems Mark-Anthony Kaye just got married in Cali. Attendees apparently may have included Jay Chapman, Richie Laryea and Kamal Miller!

I bought the book "DeRo: My Life" a couple of years ago and didn't get into it at the time. I recently discovered that the audiobook version of that is available for free via the Toronto Public Library. It's read by local actor Tony Ofori and I think he does a great job.

I'm really enjoying this audiobook. I listen to it daily as I do my physio exercises. And when I don't catch a name or other detail, it's nice to have the physical book to look things up.

I think it's a worthwhile read or listen for everyone. Of course it's just one person's view, but many of the things are crazy and totally believable. Like DeRo's time in Zwickau (eastern Germany), his eye injury, and Barry Maclean's BS.

In case somebody isn't aware: audiobooks & eBooks are still available for free, online from TPL. That's despite the computer system outage related to a cyberattack which affects most of TPL's internet & computer services. Audiobooks are provided via Libby, linked to your TPL account.

(sorry off topic): Also little tip if you use Libby, you are able to add other library's and have access to their catalogue of books/audiobooks. I'm in Kingston and I am able to add Kingston, as well as Mississauga, Hamilton, Burlington, London, & Ottawa. However, don't think I can add Toronto to my list, therefore am unable to listen to DeRo's book, although I do have it and have read through half. Highly suggest it was interesting reading through what I have so far. His eye injury is crazy and never knew that about him or what he had to deal with and compensate while on the pitch.

Barely off topic... Thanks for the tip, I'll try that out tomorrow! Although, maybe the smaller library systems won't want us Toronto hordes hogging all their audiobooks, and won't have enabled that.

I've gotten past DeRo's first stint with TFC now. Those were the days, serial meltdowns here on the boards... Also read lots about the CMNT experiences. I know there will be a 2nd side to some of these stories. But I gotta say, when you see what happened the last few years with both the CSA and MLSE/TFC: the more things change, the more they stay the same. It's really embarrassing how often resources and talents are squandered in the Canadian soccer world.

VV apparently has joined East Bengal; current middling club of the Indian Super League.
