Sorry but this guy would not even make the bench on this current TFC team , there is a reason he played on one of the worst TFC teams ever and one of the worst defense in league history. He went to the NY Redbulls where he was awful and was eventually realeased and no MLS team picked him up. He went back to England where he could not cut it with a league 1 team and eventually retired and the old age of 28. I'm sure he is a great guy, always hard working, but you also need talent and a soccer brain to become a good player, just being a hard worker is not enough to make it as a good player, he was part of the futile TFC past who like I said would struggle to make it on the bench on our TFC team of today.

We think you are a little harsh when it comes to #27.
You are correct however, that he played for one of the worst teams. Remember some of the defenders he played with: Emory, Aceval, Cann, Harden, Maund and Williams? Now look at the current players on the new and greatly improved TFC roster.
Eckersley was a fan favourite for his aggressive style as a right back. Was he not a RPB player of the year as well?

I always liked Ecks, and yes he was RPB player of the year, different time, different team, that is all our very insightful Soccman2 had to say.

I'm still puzzled how in the world he could not make in the English League 1!
This guy had some pretty good games here at TFC.
No way in hell he could not have been one of the very best players compared to the League 1 level.

I think he lost it after getting cut from NYRB, that can happen I think

It's described in more detail in this article about Eckersley from Kurt Larson: http://www.torontosun.com/2017/09/06...ero-waste-life

A couple of things came together, leading Eckersley to question things & "fall out of love" with soccer. The abrupt trade to NY; NY not wanting to pay him more more than the minimum in the next contract; the lower quality of environment and facilities after moving to Oldham Athletic; and sometimes even getting paid later there.

“I kind of chilled out a little bit. I wasn’t as aggressive. Throughout my whole career that had driven me through most games. I became more chill and it impacted my game.”

I think living the 'no-waste' lifestyle makes up for the complete waste lineups he had to play with at our club.

Huge red flags there. You don't just go to Syria for soccer of all the places you could go to. Otherwise you must have a death wish.

I know its nowhere the greatest, if even that good a league in Europe, but Finland would be far more attractive to me. In the past Finland has been the landing spot for many Canadians looking for a place to play.

Post MLS statement on Orlando City SC midfielder Will Johnson

Major League Soccer today confirmed that the prosecution will not pursue charges against Orlando City SC midfielder Will Johnson with regard to an alleged domestic incident on September 5, provided that he completes a year-long diversion program, including a 26-week domestic violence counseling program.
The league office has also completed its independent investigation and Johnson is now permitted to return to team activities and competition in light of the suspension that he has already served. The evidence reviewed by the MLS league office does not establish that Johnson physically assaulted his wife. Nonetheless, the league office has concluded that his overall conduct the night of the incident was not consistent with league policy. As a result of all of the circumstances, the league office has concluded that the five-game suspension served was appropriate.
"Failure simply isn't an option at this stage. TFC pushed its chips to the middle of the table when it splurged on Bradley and Defoe and reinforced its bet by making savvy acquisitions elsewhere. This collection of players is capable of delivering on the promises made during the close season. There are no more excuses available for TFC. Only success will continue the process of atoning for the past and establishing a higher standard for the future." FOX Sports

I see Ryan Richter was on the bench for the Cosmos. To bad he couldn't see some playing time.

Torsten Frings was the coach at Darmstadt 98. They stuck with him when the team was relegated from the 1st to 2nd Bundesliga this year. However now Darmstadt was winless in 11 games, and had dropped to 16th spot in the 2nd Bundesliga, so they fired Torsten today.

Heard this, yeh. Hard to argue with, but sad, nonetheless.

Its getting to the point now where even mid first rounders are so hit and miss, where they get a year in the USL to prove their worth and if not they are pushed out. With the academy and home grown players the entire dynamic of the draft has changed.
