I would still prefer Maurice Edu over Pontius.

Certain players have certain qualities and sometimes those qualities have a value overseas,” Payne said. “If Mo Edu was playing in our league, he would not be a dominating player by any stretch of the imagination. I would argue that a player like Chris Pontius (drafted seventh overall in 2009) continues to be a far more impactful MLS player than Mo Edu would have been.”

“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

My favourite quote from the Frings translation: "New York has a super horny Stadium in Seattle, more than 50,000 fans." I don't think that is what he said but made me laugh...

In page 2 of the Frings article, something was lost in translation....

"New York has a super horny Stadium in Seattle, more than 50,000 fans."

And in any case, he says he no longer wants to play football after this year. He's going to retire.

Could be my sketchy German translating skills, but I got a real sense that TF is not wildly happy about coming back.

The second page he says some pretty good things about the city and coming back. Dunno.

As Armen pointed out New York has a super horney stadium.

    These are my favorite quotes:

How do you assess the level of play in MLS?
    Previously, blasphemed the operetta League.

    Torsten Frings:
Toronto would in the middle of the second Bundesliga play, maybe a little below. Los Angeles Galaxy, the club Beckham, who recently twice MLS champions, has the level of Greuter Fürth, would not descend. Since even a giant gaping hole. But the structures are becoming increasingly professional.

Mr. Frings, you were with the German champions Bayern and Canadian champion with the Toronto FC. was celebrated in Toronto similar to the shell on the Town Hall balcony to Marienplatz?

    Torsten Frings:
(laughs) Nah. There is a small cup and we went for a beer in the evening. That's about it. This is not comparable to the championship in the Bundesliga. Football is not interested here. People look ice hockey and basketball. The title is important.

    lol

They have played in World and European Championships, were on your world-class position. Was the league exchange for a big change?

Torsten Frings: I'm used to another, sure. The quality is not as high as in Europe. But you learn to deal with it and try to help the players. When behavior in corner kicks, throw-ins and so on in the teams are often young players that come directly from the university or college. In Germany we have a very different training. However, they are all extremely well educated and physically fit. Then place the Americans much value.

They are fast becoming captain in Toronto.

Torsten Frings: I have been asked and am here as a bit of a model type. I do it gladly. We are a sworn bunch. Everybody do what every that is different than in the Bundesliga. Here you are fast friends, because there is no jealousy, because almost all deserve the same. The salary cap is on (Editor's note: salary cap), which prescribes the league clubs. There are players who only earn $ 40,000 a year. Nobody wants to play for it in Germany. But for young players, the league is a steppingstone.

Not just your personal highlight. The "black cat" video was Toronto FC's most-watched YouTube video of the past year.

As Edu was walking out of the stadium after the US-Canada friendly over the summer, TFCviaBuffalo stopped him and said we miss you here. Edu's response - I miss it too.

let's bring him back, considering he's rotting on Stoke reserves right now!
