Exclamation TFC signs Arnold Peralta (MF from Honduras)

    http://www.latribuna.hn/2012/12/27/t...cho-a-peralta/

The president of Life, Karla Dip, confirmed Thursday that midfielder Arnold Peralta, who is used by the national coach Luis Fernando Suarez, at right, was hired by Toronto in MLS.

The Reds' boss said that while negotiating with several clubs coming Americans, but it was Toronto who made the best offer.

However, Dip, acknowledged that there is still signing the contract, but an agreement was reached with the Canadian club, where he played at the time Amado Guevara.

Peralta was one of the great figures of the U-23 in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying and then confirmed its capacity in the London 2012 Olympic Games, where he had to play as a right winger.

At his young age he became the captain of Life, also earned a spot in the senior team which has established itself as right defender, a position he played as a starter in the last three games of World Cup qualifying for Brazil 2014.

president of life? captain of life?

something funny is happening in translation. Still, that's great news!

and considering how many times TFC (and the CMNT) have faced Honduran teams, it only makes sense that we'd get a player from them. How many times did we watch a game and say "Can we sign that guy?"

Kevin Payne had a stirling reputation at DC United for identifying and acquiring talent in Latin America. Hiring Amado Guevara as a Honduran scout was a brilliant move, and it has already started to pay dividends. Peralta is a young up and coming box to box midfielder, and he will address a significant weakness within the roster. This is precisely the type of signing that we have been calling for in the past, and that previous administrations have been incapable of executing.

    Well done Mr. Payne.

Guevara's employed by TFC as a scout? When did that happen?

It was reported by Ives and a few other sources a couple of weeks ago. Guevara is akin to a God in Honduras, and he was probably instrumental in making this signing happen.

Good news, and a great showing of the improvements Mr. Payne has brought to our club... However, I'm a little bit bummed that this guy was part of Canada's 8-1 Humiliation this fall, I know its dumb but part of me will always be mad at him for that!

I don't have enough anger in me for the Hondurans. I used it all up for our own boys in red. They were the real culprits of our humiliation.

With this comment Gazza, the head of the nail was struck with fury, I am pleased we have signed Perlata, always liked watching Honduras, and have a soft spot for La Ceiba, I have vacationed in Honduras a few years back.

This is great news - can we stop fucking complaining for 5 minutes? Payne knows talent, Guevara knows what was broken with TFC when he left. This guy sounds like he might fill a nice gap for us in midfield. One step closer to getting rid of Terry fucking Dunfield.

maybe - although I was just reading a report about Tijuana moving from Liga MX to MLS to play out of San Diego... which apparently is an 'April Fools' type hoax, with it being Dec 28th (Dias des Innocentes, or some such).

I wonder if this is part of Honduran culture as well ?

Nice signing. Glad to see we're finally trying to be an MLS team via a proven player acquisition model.

We need more of these signings, as they often don't pan out. Payne himself knows this, he gutted DCU in 2008-2009 (getting rid of Boswell and Carroll) to sign 5 Latin Americans, not one of whom worked out.

Hope TFC have a real on-boarding process, and don't just pay lip service to it. Many of these signings fail for culture shock reasons.

remember when Amado first arrived and the only person who spoke Spanish in the club was Cesar Valesco? I've always given Amado props for sticking it out when so many other internationals (Laurent Robet, Oliver Tebily) checked out early.

This FO have been the masters of sounding, with maximum sincerity, like they are all over something, when they actually have no clue how to do it. I hope Payne sees that.

First of all is this official? Is Peralta an attacking midfielder or a defensive one, I hope an attacking one we need an attacking mid more than anything.

A Honduran fan who watched Arnold Peralta play says he is a defensive midfielder/right back and not an attacking midfielder. He actually marked Neymar at the London Olympics. Looks like he will play alongside Torsten Frings.

If TFC move to a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 formation Frings and Peralta will be the two holding mids. This could work but I still worry about the loss of quickness with Frings. Also what are the depth positions for holding mid behind Frings and Peralta?

I never agreed with the 4-3-3 stuff here, but if you want to make a formation part of your identity, 4-2-3-1 is the way to go, as this is the dominant system used in the world today. Most of the teams at Euro 2012 used it. Agree that Frings lack of speed would be badly exploited in that system.
