I'm online only... I assume I'm going to get such a stomach ache from the drivel within 10 minutes that I'll give up. But we will see.

opening comment by PM sounds well practiced as opposed to Monday's first session.

Paul Beirne says there's a "leadership void," that Anselmi is hiring a "president" or something like that.

Mariner is asked, what's the biggest mistake he made personally during the past season. He does not answer the question. He starts talking first about injuries. Unbelievable.

Rongen thinks TFC is the Man U of North America... lol

Maybe we should win a few trophies before we start making such comments.

The hyperbole is ridiculous, but at least Rongen answers the questions and gives some thoughtful comments.

    Mariner's a weasel.

He still can probably teach him a thing or two, especially if PM is going to continue playing Henry in the full back position.

Not sure that is the guy I want young players learning from.

My lasting memory of him will always be starting 10-15 yards out of position and basically ensuring the opposing team always had room to cross the ball in. Then he'd turn around and give it to his teammates for things THEY were screwing up.

^I understand the disappointment flavouring your opinion of that player as a coach but let's remember they're 2 entirely different jobs. Those that can't do can still be incredible teachers, Jose.

My bigger concern with this is what I've heard around here (from Denime I think) about Brennan being a really bad coach.

Yes but remember he was mostly a midfielder. I will give Jimmy credit, in MLS when he advanced he was effective and had a strong left foot, but defensively he was not very good and his passing (ie long ball) was very poor in the last two years.

Funny thing is Jimmy went out and did his courses, got his coaching certificates.

By this logic it seems only amazing players are allowed to coach anyone. If I recall Mariner was a pretty good striker, how is that working out for us?

Jimmy is a fucking politician of the highest order, he's part of the problem in that sense. I do agree that experienced players of any level can aid in development though

There's nothing wrong with Jim Brennan. I didn't mind him as a player either. He's a fairly good level MLS defender. And people need to stop corrolating "good players" with "good coaches". Steve Bruce was one of the best defenders around, but he's a hopeless coach, and even worse at coaching defence! His teams always leak goals like a seive!
