Cuban Soccer Defector Starts Over In Canada:
I like this quote from this article:
A boring game' Fernandez has friends at the Montreal Impact. But he has been temporarily adopted by some in the soccer community in Toronto.
He finally arrived to BMO Field last Saturday, albeit about two weeks late, as the guest of a Toronto FC season-ticket holder. Sitting in the upper deck of the stadium, he watched the local side limp to scoreless draw with rival Montreal.
"It was, kind of, a boring game," he said. "I could not figure out why they were not playing the ball in the air more.
"They did not move the ball very well, given that it was wet." Assessing the troubles of the beleaguered, local soccer team?
Seems like Fernandez will fit in just fine.
The two week layoff in early October had me thinking if O'Dea would bother returning to play against Montreal, Santos Laguna, and Columbus. It just doesnt seem worth it after playing against Germany. I question whether he will return to TFC, it seems like he would be better suited to bottom table League 1 team.
